defending champ: WTA Handicapper

PICK-A-WINNER #96 – AUCKLAND 2004

Welcome to Pick-A-Winner (PAW), the Predictions game!

Playing is simple: over the course of the tournament choose any 13 matches in the Main Draw and post who you think will win them.

You should have posted a commitment to play this tournament. The deadline for commitments is January 1st 2004.

If you haven't but would like to play you may enter as a wildcard recipient, but each player is limited to two wildcard entries.

Post commitments in this thread - http://wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=92618

Press Releases

16/12/03 - Supreme field expected for Auckland 2004

by SpikeyAidanm

The field for the 2004 ASB Auckland Classic will be the best ever, with the release of the player commitment list, in which the event will feature five of the world's top twenty players.

The big attraction this year is Indonesia's speedster_, coming off a stellar season in 2003, which saw him capture three titles and reach the French Open semis. Also part of the line-up is 2003 Rome champion - Jakub, who will be hoping that the Tier IV event in New Zealand will create a platform for bigger and greater things in 2004.

Defending champion WTA Handicapper will not contend the 2004 tournament, but big local interest is expected with YoungProfessor making an appearance. The local favourite who reached the US semis last year, will be seeded 6th; behind speedster_, Jakub, Grice, Pintaled & Elisse.

Rounding out the seeds will be Portugal's marcobarella and Indonesia's ntohir. With former top tenner - ghosts, also in the field, tickets are selling out fast.

The 2004 ASB Classic featuring the EziBuy singles and doubles will be
held from January 5-10th, co-currently with the Uncle Toby's Women Hardcourt Open, on the Gold Coast.

> Write your own article/analysis/commentary/player diary etc... relating to this tournament (in the PAW 2004 Articles Thread), and I'll add it to this Post.
