"Religion has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. Any if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But he loves you."

I'm so excited that tennis is back! The off season seems soooo long (well, probably not to the players anyway).

it'll be interesting to see how Ai will start her first match as a TOP 10 player, what a nice name to have

Loit vs Tanasugar 0-0
no head to head, but will Emilie keep Tanasugarn winless in Gold Coast?

Chladkova vs Maleeva 2-3
1999 Pattaya SF Hard (O) M.MALEEVA 7-6 6-2
1999 Strasbourg 16 Clay (O) D.CHLADKOVA 4-6 6-2 3-6
2001 Leipzig 32 Carpet (I) M.MALEEVA 6-3 6-3
2000 French Open 64 Clay (O) M.MALEEVA 7-6(5) 2-6 6-2
2003 Berlin 64 Clay (O) D.CHLADKOVA 7-6(1) 1-6 4-6
do you call this a nice rivalry

Sanchez Lorenzo vs Schiavone 1-1
2000 $75,000 Poitiers 16 Hard (I) M.SANCHEZ LORENZO 6-7(1) 6-4 2-6
2001 Budapest 32 Clay (O) F.SCHIAVONE 6-2 6-1
2 clay courters, Francesca will obviously search for her first title here,
and this event was won by first time winner last yr too, so good luck

4 SHAUGHNESSY Meghann USA v. WC STOSUR Samantha AUS
SPREM Karolina CRO v. FARINA ELIA Silvia ITA
QF v. PISNIK Tina SLO
DELLACQUA Casey AUS v. 7 SERNA Magui ESP

Shaughnessy vs Stosur 0-0
in last 13 matches Meghann's wins only came against teenagers,
and Sam is still winless in Gold Coast for 3 years straight,
does she have a chance against Meghann?

Sprem vs Farina Elia 0-1
2003 Strasbourg FR Clay (O) S.FARINA ELIA 6-3 4-6 6-4
rematch the infamous Strasbourg final which made Siliva quit Strasbourg
then on clay now on rebound ace, so can Silvia does the same thing
again a player 10 years younger than her again?

Pisnik will have a pretty hard opponent to beat with a pretty impressive qualifying field,
i'm hoping she'll be meeting Silvia Talaja tho

Serna vs Dell'acqua 0-0
another WC vs a seed, is Casey ready for WTA? we'll see

8 SCHNYDER Patty SUI v. JANKOVIC Jelena YUG
SREBOTNIK Katerina SLO v. DECHY Nathalie FRA
KUZNETSOVA Svetlana RUS v. LIKHOVTSEVA Elena RUS
QF v. 3 ZVONAREVA Vera RUS

Schnyder vs Jankovic 0-0
this is Jelena's first MD direct entry as a result of her hot streak last yr,
can she continue that streak against Patty?

Srebotnik vs Dechy 1-0
2002 Luxembourg 32 Hard (I) K.SREBOTNIK 1-6 6-4 RET
defending champion is back from injury, her condition will be assessed

Kuznetsova vs Likhovtseva 1-0
2003 San Diego QF Hard (O) S.KUZNETSOVA 6-2 6-3
this is the sign of changing of Russian era, but Elena after all won this event before, so a close contest might be in place for the double's partner

Vera will start her year playing a qualifier, a great 2003, and she is pretty close to TOP 10, but is she close enough, or just no cigar, we'll see

5 MARTINEZ Conchita ESP v. QF
QF v. SAFINA Dinara RUS
KRASNOROUTSKAYA Lina RUS v. PRATT Nicole AUS
2 PETROVA Nadia RUS | bye

Conchita starts her year playing a qualifier, but she lost to players
outside TOP 100 in 2003, so it's actually an uncertainy for her to advance

Dinara, another Russian in the draw, is taking on qualifiers, good luck opening her yr with a win, after all, this is her debut match in Gold Coast

Krasnoroutskaya vs Pratt 0-0
another young talented teenager vs seasoned veteran, good match

Nadia who had to play qualifying last yr now is seeded 2nd, this just goes to tell you how good she has become, can she get her first title here? let's just hope so
Perfect_Stroke! Great post you did! 4 thumbs-up including my toes!
