Belgium vs Slovak Republic

Kim Clijsters vs Daniela Hantuchova:

Kim should win this match. A win for Daniela would help the Slovaks nicely but I don't think Daniela will come out firing at this stage of the year.

Xavier Malisse vs Karol Kucera:

I think Karol has the guile and the wile to confuse and frustrate Xavier, and take the match. Karol needs the win to possibly even the tie. Can he rise to the occasion? Definitely.

Belgium vs Slovak Republic:

It should be a very entertaining mixed match whether it's dead or live. One of the better match-ups of the week. The Slovaks will be solid. Dani is a Grand Slam mixed champ and Karol is a very handy partner. The Belgians combine well and are tough to beat. Kim is a ladies' doubles Grand Slam winner and Xavier supports her well. It will come down to which of the ladies is able to take charge of the match. All signs point to Kim, but we can't count Daniela out since she has more mixed experience and success than Kim. Tough call.

PREDICTION: It will possibly come down to the mixed but I think Belgium may wrest it from the Slovaks, but not without a struggle.

If it comes down the mixed then I think Belgium will take it. Kim and Xavier are a tough team to take down. However if Xavier is playing fairly well it won't even come to the mixed as I believe he can beat Kucera.

Agree with Hawk! Kucera could have the tools to frustrate Xavier, but the question is : "Will Xavier let it happen?" If he's playing well, he doesn't get frustrated as fast anymore as he used to...

I think Belgium should win this. Even if Xavier loses I give them the best chance in doubles too (but I might be a bit subjective )

I think belgium 3-0
I agree with Hawk about Malisse. He finished 2003 quite well came back to get some good wins and make us opend 4th round, beat hewitt and had some good results indoors. As for the women I think Kim should win, but daniela could win to, Daniela has a new coach and has been working hard - so the new coach thing could do either of two things she comes out on firs trying to impress or struggles for abit with changes to her game.
In the mixed I think Belgium will win, Kim is the boss of the team, Xavier supports her well with his serve and returns, sure he played bad against spain last year but they have great team work and stick together even it is getting rough and things aren't going well, they pull together and help each other. ALso this is the third time they ahve played together. IS this the first time for Kucera and Daniela to play together?

Yes but Kim made wimbledon mixed final with lleyton and then stopped playing mixed, good decision it unneccessary to play it. Daniela has won two mixed slams but has played more than kim so that is why she has more success. So kim has plenty of practice at mixed and is the better doubles player than daniela.

This one's very tough to predict, possibly the toughest. It depends on how Malisse plays. If he plays well he can be very good, but he wont win any matches if he doesnt play well.
Kim should beat Dani, and I think Malisse will beat Karol if he shows up. In the mixed it depends on Malisse again, sometimes he plays awful, but they can be good too.
Anyway I'll just predict Belgium 3-0 but it could be 2-1 as well.

This tie is on in a few hours. I wish I was home to watch it. Oh well.

NOt supporting anyone, but would be a great tie. In the men's, definitely go Kucera!
