My dear friends and fans,
Been a long time since I told you about his return to competition, but I needed some time to more accurately determine the plan and do not give you false information. I am here today to tell you that yesterday I had an operation on his shoulder. As you know, my last match I had at the Olympic Games in London. Since then, I could not participate in the tournament because of the pain in my shoulder, and I had to miss a few months at the beginning of last season because of problems with his shoulder. Since my last match, I did everything possible to get back on the court, but, sorry, no way to rehabilitation, not yielded any results. So at this point, surgery - is the only remaining solution. So from now on I will do my best to get back on the tennis court and on the same level as quickly as possible. Still recovering from surgery may take several months. But, knowing that you, my fans always support me, give me more strength and desire to return to the previous level and become even better.
I really miss you and hope to see you very soon! All the best, Vera."

Reading this makes so much sense. I know I also showed frustration of her pulling out on tournaments and wanting her to come back, but she did everything to find out what she had, avoiding surgery, but finding no other way to do so. But still managed to go to the Olympics which was her goal last year. My respect has now increased for her even more. Vera, have a good recovery and hope to see you soon on court again, even if it will take another few months. We rather wait 6 more months and you being able to complete with the best, than rushing anything. Hope she'll keep us updated on her progress . We miss you too, Vera

Vera..

I'm betting that we will see her, still this year, back on court. Maybe around the US Open...

I don't know, but something tells me that her injury was not as bad as Sharapova was, because pass 15 months undiagnosed with that kind of injury, is too much for me..

Anyway, hope everything is fine now. Will be a long time, but I'm sure this will worth a lot at the end.. Good luck Bepa

Re: Vera Zvonareva rise to the top cheering thread, Vol 3

Not sure if it was already specifically noted here before, but it is expected Vera to recover in four months. If that means she can play matches then or start training, is unknown so far.
Masha had a surgery for a damaged rotator cuff, still not sure what the exact surgery for Vera was.

Probably to start training again.. Must have physiotherapy before.. And some weeks with the arm immobilized..

Time will say that, but some news would be good to comfort us..

Re: Vera Zvonareva rise to the top cheering thread, Vol 3

Hey guys, watching the stream from Sharapova-Jankovic Miami SF, the reporter from Fox 2 just said that there was news about Vera, being ahead of schedule from recovery and could possibly return in July. Now earlier today in the interview thread it was reported that Vera could also miss the whole year, so I guess we will still have to wait and see, but I kinda liked the sound of this and wanted to share with you. If anyone wants review this match from that channel, he says it at Masha serving for the first set at 5-2.

Time for big news..

Vera gave a small interview for Championnat.com, hoping that she can get back to Tennis training at the end of summer:

Oh, and now basically is strengthening, permanent occupation. I was a long time after the operation, in America, then there was a time in the Netherlands, and is only now, in June, I returned to the exams. Everyone was pleased with the dynamics, so I hope that by the end of the summer, I can start training slowly. But it's, actually, a very long process. They told me that about a year to take a full recovery, so we'll see.."

Good news, isn't? Well, there's more..

She was in Moscow yesterday, on the International Tennis Academy in Khimki, TESTING a new Wilson racket:

The artcle is HERE and there's a Photo Gallery about the event, HERE.

Of course, we need to wait to see what happens next, but her comeback seems closer than expected..

BTW, who doesn't miss this??

That's encouraging news indeed . So good to hear from herself how she is doing. Although rumours were sometimes the opposite, but now I believe she will not play any earlier than 2014. And that's fine. And the pictures are great . You are worth waiting for, Vera, we'll be around!

Damn, she was here in the Netherlands again . Such a small country and I always miss seeing her

Yep , thought of that as well today. Meaning she will be unranked next week, but tbh I don't care at the moment. But really wonder how she is doing, and how the shoulder is holding up. She knows. For us it is guessing. Guess we'll have to wait for an update, I will take in account all possible scenario's, but I hope she will be back in 2014 again on the tour without any pain.
