Sugiyama, Tanasugarn, Cho, Asagoe, Morigami and Obata... wow is this the most Asians in a tier 2 ever?? Widjaja could make it 7 if she wins tomorrow. Asian tennis is getting better.

Well, she was still playing in San Diego...so I didn't see her playing in LA.

Yes, LA tournament moved to Carson from Manhattan Beach this year.
Til last year, the tournament was held at Manhattan Beach Tennis Club, which was also a great place.
Now, the tournament is held in the campus of Cal State Univ Dominguez Hills. Next to the huge soccer stadium. It's a brand new. They have great hard-courts and some green clay courts in the facilities. The hard courts are typical of US hard court surface... bounces high and a bit slower... I think this surface fits most of Asian players.

Shinobu, Tammy, and Janet were hitting good.
Akiko was practicing with her hitting partner. Man, she hits such clean shots. Saori was pracitcing with Maria S. Maria's balls were way heavier, but Saori had lots of good angles... hope she had more power tho...
Angie was playing well against Melien... hope someone would withdraw for her MD spot!!

Hope Ai can win a few here in LA. She has lots points to need.
I am looking forward to Ai and Shinobu's doubles too!

Go! Trojans!
