PatPat, thanks for your interesting match report.
As for Wynne, though she was really not in shape, she managed to limit the loss of WTA points by reaching the semi-final.
She had however confirmed her air-ticket to Korea for the next day... before playing the semi. She had actually no intention to stay any longer in Hochiminh City and wanted to get ready for the Korean event (USD 50,000). She certainly could have won the match but was not upto it. It was extremely clear during the match.
Regarding Wynne performance in 2001, she actually lost a lot of points in 2001 because this ITF tournament was not held anymore. Nevertheless, she broke in the top 100 after good results in a few WTA tourneys in North America.
Last year, Wynne had difficulties to get in the main draw of WTA tourneys. This year, she passed the qualies well (Roland Garros : LL, Wimbledon : 3 victories in the qualies before losing to Tauziat, US Open : first victory in the main draw of a Grand Slam event).
I guess this year she will be working on her consistency so as to be able to win a couple (or more) of main draw matches in major events.
It is all in her mind.
