Re: "Nok" Noppawan Lertcheewakarn Cheering thread

Nok lost in the 1R of $25K Obihiro 1-6 1-6 to former No.4 Kimiko Date-Krumm...

I'm sure Nok wasn't used to the surface, but I expected her to put up a better fight.

Good luck to her in her hometown, next.

I think it was said somewhere in the results thread in GM that Nok hadn't got her coach with her. .

I too am a bit disappointed.

She will work with her official coach after US Open. And her temporary coach did not travel with her in Obihiro with some reason.

She will leave for US summer tour on 20 Aug, starting from Canadian Open, US Open and Kentucky Open. And our Thai Tennis Association in USA now asking WC for her to play some ITF challenger tournies after Kentucky.

Re: "Nok" Noppawan Lertcheewakarn Cheering thread

Noppawan wins first-home title at 10K Chiangmai

CHIANGMAI Thailand August 16, 2008
Thailand's 16-year-old Noppawan Lertcheewakarn(WTA-538) did not disappoint the lusty cheers of a hometown crowd as she easily saw off compatriot Nungnadda Wannasuk(WTA-553) in the women's singles final, to win her first home title in the US$10,000 SAT-ITF Woemn's circuit at the Prem Tennis Academy in Chiangmai, Thailand earlier today.

Fifth-seeded Noppawan, a 2008 Wimbledon junior finalist, defeated compatriot No.7 seed Nungnadda Wannasuk in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 in a match lasting one hour and 13 minutes. It was a sweet revenge for Noppawan as she had lost to Nungnadda in the final of a ITF challenger tournament in their only previous meeting in the $10,000 Jakarta in 2007.

It was Noppawan's first home title and second straight title after winning debut ITF trophy in the $25,000 Balikpapan in April 2008.

Following Chiangmai, Noppawan will be heading to Quebec for Canadian Open Junior Championships where 5 of the world's Top-20 ranked players will be vying for the coveted girls' title. The projected top five seeds are: Thailand's Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (ITF-4, WTA-538), Elena Bogdan of Romania(ITF-5, WTA-888), Japan's Nara Kurumi (ITF-9), Indonesia's Jessy Rompries (ITF-11, WTA-798), and Kristina Mladenovic of France (ITF-18, WTA-1064).

Re: "Nok" Noppawan Lertcheewakarn Cheering thread

I'm really happy for their title !!!

* From itftennis.com :
-- Noppawan Lertcheewakarn of Thailand and Sandra Roma of Sweden beat Americans Mallory Burdette and Sloane Stephens 6-0, 6-2. “This is Sandra’s last Junior grand slam and I wanted us to win it for her,” said Lertcheewakarn. Like Moser and Stebe, Lertcheewakarn and Roma were a scratch pairing. “Now I’m wondering why we didn’t play together before,” said Stebe. “For sure I think we will play together more in the future.” --
