Question about the Qualifying Competition

I know that in Zurich the qualifying event is held at a separate venue, but noticed that on the website there is no listing regarding tickets. Is the qualifying closed to the public, or do they just not advertise it due to lack of space at the club?

Cheers

qualifying is normally free anyway, so you wouldn't need a ticket.
the club is just a little way away from the main arena.

Good luck to my favs

I know that, but this is Switzerland. They charge the GDP of small third wirld nations just for a seat at most events (Gstaad and Basel are the worst culprits), so I wouldnt put it past them to charge for Qualifying.

I was more wondering if it was possible that the public couldnt go, due to the size of the club or something, as there is nothing on the site to encourage you to go there...

I was thinking of tunnelling in.

I forgot that R1 starts on Sunday, but I have a feeling the last round of qualifying might be more entertaining, plus there'll be more matches...

JonBcn, the qualifying of Zurich does not take place in the main stadium, but rather in some randomly placed courts near the car parking way down town. Last year, Caz & I tried to go and see some of the qualifying that was taking place on Sunday, and by the answer they gave us, I got the feeling either crowds are not welcome or they are completely banned. But if you are nearby I guess you don't lose anything for giving it a try.

And may I add, Zurich is the MOST boring tournament I have ever been to. Sorry, but it is. And I didn't even had to pay for tickets most days. I am not going back even if they give me first row tickets and a VIP badge.

Bah...thats what I was afraid of. Thanks for answering though, Bea I'll give it a go and see what happens...the annoying thing is that we were going to go to Filderstadt, but I thought - "No - Zurich's much closer, and I'll see more matches"

I know what you mean about it being boring. I was there last year too, and thought so then. I think its because there's only one court. I love to be able to go round several courts at once, and there, obviously, you can't. Apparently its gonna change next year though...

You should had gone to Filderstadt. I had to say it That's a nice little tournament, you at least have two courts and can wander around a bit... go down to that nice little town and try to dodge players driving their porsches like maniacs ...and you have a nice city like Stuttgart really close too

But you'll have fun in Zurich, I am sure. And you'll probably manage to get in to see the qualifying if you ask with the right amount of persuassion

That makes it, what? 5 times we've been at the same place and failed to spot each other?

not true, qualifying takes part in oerlikon, which is an area in zurich, while the actual tournament is held in kloten, which isn't even part of zurich. BUT: there's a train from one place to the other, and it takes only 7 minutes to get there.

jon, why don't you send them an e-mail to know more (office@swisscom-challenge.com)? i hear the usually write back pretty quickly.
