This week's bad news is that Julia couldn't defend her Vancouver 100K SF points (70) from last year - lost in two close sets to Kudryavtseva in R2 and will drop to about #140 in the rankings tomorrow.
(This is perhaps the weakest 100K out there. It has to be mentioned that last year Julia beat Keys in the QF and look where the young American is now.)
The good news is that this loss came just in time for Julia to enter Toronto P5 qualies, in which she scored one of her biggest wins to date: 6-3 5-7 7-5 over Christina McHale, the second top 100 win of her career
(not counting Shahar in Israeli national champs).
