Why does mens tennis get so much air time?

The guys get 5 whole sets to work with. when networks have up to 7 hours to show coverage their's no reason why they can't show the women first. and most to all of 1 or 2 womens matches being played. the mens matches are pretty long most of the time. their will be plenty of the mens matches unfinished. their's clearly a strong bias by all networks to show the men more. and Mac making comments like this sure don't help. he says i think most wta matches are boring and dull. like their are so many not boring and dull atp matches John. he's got his head so far up the atp's American rumpus it isn't funny. and John was born in Canada. and don't you just hate the way he says some playes names wrong. like instead of saying Capriati. John says Copriati. he can clearly say Jens name correctly.
but he doesn't.

Hmm only reason I can think of is the mens matches are much more interesting than the womens. If anyone can name more than 1 of the women's matches which kept them rivetted to them to their seat during this USO I would be surprised. BTW if individuals can take their bias out of suggesting any match involving your favourite would love to see what people can come up with.

I am expecting that womens matches will get more coverage next week when matches start to become competitive.

to be honest i don't find either rivetting. i don't know why i like watching tennis i just do but it just so happens that i prefer watching womens tennis (and no it doesn't have anything to do with the way they look). actually thinking about it i probably prefer womens tennis because the young teenages have more of a chacne to breakthrough whereas in the mens the promising players break tghrough in there early 20 usually rather than in the womens where 16 and 17 year olds can cause upsets (although these days it doesn't ahppen much).

but i have to agree the mens matches are more entertaining so the average person would like them more and that is why they get the air time unfortunately.

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
and good luck russians: dementieva, safina, kirilenko, sharapova, kuznetsova, bovina, zvonareva, dushevina.

also good luck to: azarenka, lucic, sprem, vakulenko, vaidisova, safarova, ivanovic, groenefeld, mirza, krajicek, kvitkova, larcher de brito, lisicki.

They should show more womens tennis. The mens matches take more than 2 hours usually, and they have to show it all, but womens matches only take about one hour and they only show a few games if we're lucky.
We probbaly would see riveting womens matches if they actually bothered to show any on tv in their entirety! Usually they only show the last few games of a womens match and you cant tell how good the match is just by those games.
Anyway from this US Open the Dokic-Pierce match was a very good one, better than any of the mens matches. Thats also about the only one that channel 9 showed a substantial amount of, one and a half sets to be exact
I actually find mens matches more boring bc most of the time the points end in aces or unreturnables, esp when you have Roddick-Ljubicic and the like. Also they are best of five so it sucks up more of your time.

Expermintee, believe me they have been showing plenty of the women's matches here, and you can stare at the screen for hours and you would struggles to come up with a rivetting match.

Dokic-Pierce was an ok game, guess it was rivetting if you are into watching car wrecks, because that it was Dokic was like in the 3rd. Mary hit some lovely shots, but hardly anything that made you put off getting up from the sofa.

Unfortunately with the men's matches they usually only show the big names. They just showed the El Aynoui (sp) - Novak fifth set tiebreaker and it was such high quality tennis. Lots of rallies, and the shot making was fantastic. This tiebreaker was certainly more exciting than watching the 3rd set of Davenport - Petrova.
