seeds losing in the first round?!

Clijsters (1) - Liu
I don't think that will a problem for the number 1 in the world

Kuznetsova (27) - Penetta
Penetta has a great year so far, but I dont think she's strong enough to beat Kuznetsova

Shaughnessy (17) - Sprem
Sprem has a great year too, but her latest results aren't that impressive, so I think Shaughnessy will come through

Zvonareva (13) - Kurhajcova
I saw Kurhajcova in the Fed Cup-meeting between Belgium and Slovakia... My opinion : no problem for Zvonareva at all

Hantuchova (9) - Bartoli
Quite an interesting first round match... Hantuchova is way out of form, so Bartoli may cause an upset here

Schnyder (18) - Bielek
Bielek played quite good here last year, but after that she totally disappeared... Schnyder will wome trough

Krasnoroutskaia (26) - Barna
After reaching her first final in Toronto (beating a tired Clijsters) two weeks ago, Krasnoroutskaia will be too strong for Barna

Mauresmo (5) - Widjaja
Mauresmo all the way... She's too strong for Widjaja

Davenport (3) - Callens
I hope Callens will win, but against a fit Davenport she has no chance... Question of course : will Davenport get fit enough...

Raymond (28) - Poutchek
Raymond will reach the second round

Petrova (19) - Castano
Petova's latest result aren't that impressive either, but Castano won't be a problem for her

Coetzer (14) - Lastra
Never heard of Lastra before, so I think Coetzer may count on her experience

Martinez (12) - Taylor
No problem for good old Martinez

Suarez (24) - Roesch
Suarez showed a splendid form last weeks, so she will come through quite easily

Daniilidou (25) - Casanova
Casanova is back from injury and she will beat Daniilidou, who's quite disappointing this year

Rubin (8) - Vento-Kabachi
I see no problem for Rubin

Capriat (6) - Torrens-Valero
A tournament win in New Haven after more than a year, Capriati won't be upset bij Torrens-Valero

Stevenson (31) - Loit
Loit will beat a struggling Stevenson

Dechy (23) - Mattek
The more experienced Dechy will beat Mattek

Dementieva (11) - Vaskova
Dementieva seems to be back on track, so she'll beat Vaskova

Sugiyama (15) - Martinez-Granados
On hard court Sugiyama is just too good

Farina-Elia (20) - Salerni
Salerni was a great junior player, but it doesn't seem to work out on the seniors tour... So, Farina-Elia will go throug

Schiavone (29) - Fislova
I saw Fislova play too in the Fed Cup-meeting between Belgium and Slovakia... I don't think she has the game to beat Schiavone

Srebotnik (33) - Drake
Srebotnik all the way

Myskina (7) - Nagyova
Nagyova hasn't her best year at all... Neither Myskina, but she'll win

Serna (30) - Cho
Don't think Cho has the weapons to beat Serna

Dokic (22) - Gagliardi
Dokic is struggling all year long so far... I don't see why it shouldn't happen once again

Maleeva (10) - Asagoe
I'm quite impressed with the results of Asagoe so far this year... I think she can beat Maleeva too

Bovina (16) - Cervanova
Bovina all the way

Pistolesi (21) - Schaul
Pistolesi is playing quite well recently, so Schaul won't be the one to stop her run

Mikaelian (32) - Weingartner
Quite an unpredictable match-up, but I think Mikaelian will win

Henin-Hardenne (2) - Kapros
Roland Garros last year is already a long time ago. Henin-Hardenne had a real metamorphosis and she'll beat Kapros quite easy this time

Clijsters (1) - Liu
i sense a trouncing. 6-1 6-0

Kuznetsova (27) - Penetta
i love penetta, but kuzzy is too powerful. 7-5 6-3

Shaughnessy (17) - Sprem
meg couldn't beat dokic. she didn't even push dokic to 3 sets!sprem is hot, so i think it'll be an upset. 2-6 7-5 6-2

Zvonareva (13) - Kurhajcova
vera is too good. 6-2 6-1

Hantuchova (9) - Bartoli
off form daniela, good on hardcourt marion.dani beat her convincingly in wimbledon, and she'll probably win again, but it'll be tight. 6-4 3-6 7-5

Schnyder (18) - Bielek
top player schnyder will have no problems 6-4 6-2

Krasnoroutskaia (26) - Barna
def the #1, lots of confidence. barna is a tricky lefty. i think lina will pull through 4-6 6-2 6-1

Mauresmo (5) - Widjaja
mauresmo has more weapons. her injury would have been much better. but if she's still injured angie could frustrate her. still, momo is straights 6-3 6-2

Davenport (3) - Callens
it all depends on lindsay's foot. callens is a very tough player. if helathy, linz 6-2 6-1, otherwise, its callend 7-6 5-7 6-2

Raymond (28) - Poutchek
raymond, hands down 6-4 6-3

Petrova (19) - Castano
petrova should easily dismantle catalina, 6-4 6-0

Coetzer (14) - Lastra
amanda is good, and havent heard of lastra. 6-2 6-4 for mandy.

Martinez (12) - Taylor
sarah is kinda bad, conchita is excellent. 6-0 6-3 for conchita!

Suarez (24) - Roesch
finding her range on the hardcourts as well, paola will pull through 2-6 6-1 6-4

Daniilidou (25) - Casanova
ellie will be upset by the suddenly hot myriam, 6-3 7-6

Rubin (8) - Vento-Kabachi
maria may have started playing really well, but chanda will make it 6-1 6-2

Capriat (6) - Torrens-Valero
caps will be brimming with confidence, and she'll win 6-0 6-2

Stevenson (31) - Loit
loit will easily beat alex, 6-3 6-4

Dechy (23) - Mattek
dechy was injured but she shold be well rested and injury free by now. she's too talented to lose, and she is not very often upset. dechy 6-4 6-1

Dementieva (11) - Vaskova
dementieva of course, 7-5 6-2

Sugiyama (15) - Martinez-Granados
sugiyama has had the rest, she'll win 7-5 3-6 6-3

Farina-Elia (20) - Salerni
fortunately, silvia will be able to rely on experience despite her dismal summer.

Schiavone (29) - Fislova
frannie is a solid player and pretty powerful. she'll wil 7-6 6-4

Srebotnik (33) - Drake
dont know.i think its gonna be katarina, 6-7 6-2 6-3

Myskina (7) - Nagyova
henri is in a gross slump and ana will win easily 6-2 6-4
Serna (30) - Cho
cho likes hardcourts. she came to life here last year and gave monica a fright after being down 5-1 in the 2nd. i think she'll pull an upset. 6-4 5-7 6-2

Dokic (22) - Gagliardi
gagliardi and jelena have had bad seasons. i think jelly will be able to avoid the upset, 6-4 7-6

Maleeva (10) - Asagoe
asagoe hasnt done anything this summer. mags is a good player. maggie 6-2 6-3

Bovina (16) - Cervanova
bovina DUH!6-0 7-5

Pistolesi (21) - Schaul
anna has had a tremendous clay/hardcourt season and she dragged jenny for almost 2 hours. she'll win 6-0 6-3

Mikaelian (32) - Weingartner
marlene has gone cold. mikky will win 7-5 6-1

Henin-Hardenne (2) - Kapros
with her killer return aniko wont be able to see the balls. justine 6-1 6-0

(1) Clijsters d. Liu 6-0 6-0
No comments necessary.

(27) Kuznetsova d. Pennetta 6-3 6-3
Flavia's a good player, but Sveta is proving to be a solid top 30 player on tour... and just too good for Flavia.

Sprem d. (17) Shaughnessy 3-6 7-5 6-2
Meghann's injured and has just been awful lately. K-Lina hasn't proven a damn thing against serious competition, or even won matches on hardcourt... but I think Meghann may just give this match away.

(13) Zvonareva d. Kurhajcova 6-2 6-1
Vera's just better in every way...

Bartoli d. (9) Hantuchova 6-4 6-3
Daniela is just so far from where she should be. However, Marion can really, really bad at times too... as proved by her 6-1 6-2 loss to Marissa Irvin. If Marion plays well, she'll win.

(18) Schnyder d. Bielik 7-5 6-4
This match should be ugly... I don't want to watch it, let alone comment on it.

(26) Krasnoroutskaya d. Barna 6-3 7-6
Lina should win, but Barna is one of those annoying players that does everything well and hangs in there. Lina has to realize this isn't a cakewalk, but I think she'll pull through.

(5) Mauresmo d. Widjaja 7-5 6-1
I think Momo will come out extremely shaky, but find her way. Angie can't hurt a fly.. and this is a good practice match for Amelie.

(3) Davenport d. Callens 6-3 6-3
Sorry Belgian fans, but even if Lindsay is injured... she'll still hit Els off the court.

(28) Raymond d. Poutchek 6-3 6-4
I really don't know anything about Tatiana, so I'll just take the standard score for Lisa.

(19) Petrova d. Castano 6-1 6-3
Should be routine for Nadia... Castano can't hurt her.

(14) Coetzer d. Lastra 6-2 6-3
Again, I know nothing of Lastra except she was a good college player.

(12) Martinez d. Taylor 6-1 6-2
I still have nightmares of Sarah's match with Jenny in Miami... Conchi should breeze.

(24) Suarez d. Roesch 6-4 6-3
Paola has had an amazing hard season, and Roesch only beats Dementieva.

Casanova d. (25) Daniilidou 5-7 6-4 7-5
Myriam has the game to beat a struggling Eleni... and should do it. She should be able to blast many winners by Eleni.

(8) Rubin d. Vento 6-4 6-0
Completely dependent on Chanda's health... if she's fine, this will be easy. If not, Maria will work her to death, and could pull the upset.

(6) Capriati d. Torrens Valero 6-3 6-2
Jenny gives away a few games every match... the only reason I give Cristina 5 games. Total mismatch.

Loit d. (31) Stevenson 7-6 7-6
Alexandra is a challenger player... and will finally be playing them after her indoor points are gone.

(23) Dechy d. Mattek 6-4 6-3
I saw Mattek once and she sucked... and Dechy's been injured. No idea what to expect, so standard score.

(11) Dementieva d. Vaskova 7-5 3-6 6-4
I REALLY don't like the way Alyona has been playing lately... and I think an early loss is possible. I know nothing about Alena though.

(15) Sugiyama d. Martinez-Granados 6-1 6-2
Conchita never does anything vs. a good player. Next.

(20) Farina Elia d. Salerni 6-4 6-4
Know nothing about Salerni. Silvia is a lame duck seed.

(29) Schiavone d. Fislova 6-3 6-4
Francesca is a dangerous player in this section... and could well reach the QF.

(33) Srebotnik d. Drake 6-2 6-2
Blah. Maureen's old, and Katarina is whatever. I don't give a shit about this match.

(7) Myskina d. Nagyova 6-1 ret.
Nastya is coming into US Open in TERRIBLE form. Henrieta's been hurt, which is a break for Nastya so she can maybe find some form. I laugh at the people who think Nastya will reach the QF's with how she's playing...

(30) Serna d. Cho 6-3 6-4
If this was late-2002, early-2003... I'd take Cho in a heartbeat... but she's just not the same player now.

Gagliardi d. (22) Dokic 6-4 7-6
Jelena has been practicing well... I don't care. Go Emmanuelle.

(10) Maleeva d. Asagoe 6-1 6-2
I like Asagoe... but there's a reason Japanese players never do well except on grass and fast carpet. All Maggie.

(16) Bovina d. Cervanova 6-1 6-1
Lena is gonna be a scary girl for top seeds to face later on here... if she plays anything like she did against Coetzer and Jennifer... she's a THREAT FOR THE TITLE.

(21) Pistolesi d. Schaul 6-4 3-6 7-5
Now let's relax about Anna. She won 2 crap clay tournies over nobodies. She was down 6-0 5-1 to Vera... and Jenny practically gave a set to her. I know Anna's a fighter, but let's not go crazy on Anna here... remember that she's just a wall.

(32) Mikaelian d. Weingartner 6-1 6-0
I often see Marlene lose horribly by this score. Why not again?

(2) Henin-Hardenne d. Kapros 6-3 7-5
Make fun of Aniko's serve all you want... but this girl has Top 20 like groundstrokes. Justine will still win, but Aniko isn't someone she'll just roll over.

Why is everyone so disrespectful to Davenport. Come on, she is a tough player, she ain't going down in the first round of the US! She's winning!

I used to list my favorite tennis players here...
...then they all retired.
I used to keep track of my rankings in fantasy games here...
...then I realized how much I suck.
I used to update this signature, once in a while...
...then I realized no one actually reads it.

Clijsters (1) def. Liu 6-0 6-0
Clijsters will have no problems at all with this r1.

Kuznetsova (27) def. Penetta 7-6 6-2
I think Svetlana will have it tough at first but then cruise after the first set.

Sprem def. Shaughnessy (17) 4-6 7-6 6-4
I think Karolina has a good shot of winning this match as Meghann lost to DOKIC of all ppl last week. however, karolina's latest results have not been impressive at all :S

Zvonareva (13) def Kurhajcova 6-2 6-1
Vera all the way.

Bartoli def. Hantuchova (9) 7-5 6-3
I think Marion will take this match in 2 sets. After all Daniela did lose to CARA in 2 sets, so that just shows what bad form she is in.

Bielek def. Schnyder (18) 1-6 7-5 6-2
I actually think Bielek can win this. Schnyder is unpredictable and inconsistent.

Krasnoroutskaia (26) def Barna 6-4 7-5
Lina is confidence-high after Toronto.

Mauresmo (5) def Widjaja 6-4 6-1
Widjaja is talented but Amelie will be able to pull this one off. Unless she gets injured and retires...

Davenport (3) def Callens
unless Davenport is injured she will win.

Raymond (28) def Poutchek 6-4 7-5
Raymond will reach the second round

Petrova (19) def Castano 6-3 6-0
Petrova should coast to 2R.

Coetzer (14) def Lastra 6-3 6-1
Gabriela got a bad draw here, Amanda's experience will pull through.

Martinez (12) def Taylor 7-5 6-3
Taylor couldpull an upset, but I think that Martinez will be able to win with her counterpunching play and constant slices and top spin.

Suarez (24) def Roesch 6-3 6-3
Paola will be able to win on hard here after reaching the semis of Toronto.

Casanova def. Daniilidou (25) 6-3 6-4
Casanova will win easily as Eleni has not been playing well as of late.

Rubin (8) def Vento-Kabachi 6-3 6-2
Rubin will coast to the 2R.

Capriati (6) def Torrens-Valero 6-1 6-1
After winning New Haven, Capriati is on confidence-high.

Loit def. Stevenson (31) 6-2 6-3
Emilie will win because she will let Alexandra beat herself.

Dechy (23) def Mattek 6-3 6-4
Dechy can beat the young Bethanie even if she has her injury. It wont be 6-0 6-1 but still relatively easy.

Dementieva (11) def Vaskova 6-1 6-2
I dont' see a problem for Elena here.

Sugiyama (15) def. Martinez-Granados 6-2 6-1
Ai should easily win here. 2 sets for sure.

Farina-Elia (20) def Salerni 6-7 6-3 6-1
After getting thrashed by casanova, LL or not, Farina elia has a tough r1 here. But I think she can still pull through.

Schiavone (29) def Fislova 6-4 6-2
Francesca will over power Eva.

Srebotnik (33) def Drake 6-4 6-0
I am actually surprised (and thrilled) that Maureen was able to qualify. The way she played against Craybas in Toronto was just awful, so I hope she can beat Katarina ,but I doubt it. If Maureen plays well, I can see this match going to three sets. Otherwise, 2 sets for Katarina.

Myskina (7) def Nagyova 6-2 6-0
Myskina will take this easily.

Serna (30) def Cho 3-6 7-5 6-1
Serna should pull through.

Gagliardi def. Dokic (22) 1-6 7-6 7-5
Dokic is upset-prone, always, so I hope Emmanuelle can capitalize on this and not give the dismal showin that she gave against Jelena in Wimbledon.

Asagoe def. Maleeva (10) 6-4 7-5
Shinobu has the goods to beat Maggie.

Bovina (16) def Cervanova 6-2 6-3
Bovina all the way

Pistolesi (21) def Schaul 7-5 6-1
Pistolesi's experience will pull through. Schaul has so much potential, but she has to capitalize on that, but instead she makes too many errors. Perhaps Schaul will give Pistolesi a scare in the first set, but I don't see much after that.

Mikaelian (32) def Weingartner 6-0 6-1
Marlene is playing horribly. Enough said.

Henin-Hardenne (2) def Kapros 6-3 6-0
Justine will win this easily, as a revenge for that loss at RG to Kapros. No upset for Aniko here. Justine is too good to have that now.

i think it is pretty safe to always have a bad feeling when patty is playing someone she should beat. she seems to perform pretty consistantly at the US Open though and i think she might get through this. bielik could overpower her if she is on, but if patty is in the right frame of mind (which is a big big if) she will be far too good for her.

Bartoli lost to Hantuchova
Krasnaroutskaia lost to Barna
Rubin lost to Vento
Gagliardi lost to Dokic
Bovina lost to Cervanova
Pistolesi lost to Schaul

So, I scored 26/32... I'm quite pleased with that one...
