Some of you may not know but this years event will mark the end of 2 long serving players careers. British #2 Lucie Ahl has turned pro in 1991 and accepted a job as Head Coach at the LTA's elite squad at Queen's Club after Wimbledon, but is taking a break from her coaching schedule for one last Open. Webb is going to dabble in a bit of everything i think!!
Both girls have got tons of fans from all over the world, and although they may ahve never cracked the bigtime, both gave their all to the sport they loved, and the tour will be a sadded place without.
I hope that everyone here can get behind them in their final steps on court as a proffessional, and we can send them off in style - by qualifying for the main draw!! After all, I'm sure noone would like to see them play a horror match and get mauled in teh first round of qualies, that's not the way you want to go.
Lucie was my favourtie player, and I've been lucky enough to meet her and we e-mail each other on a regular basis. I know how much it would mean to her if she knew there were people out there cheering her on, Challenger players are lucky to if they have more than 20 people watching them in early rounds, so it would really make a difference. And I'm sure Vanessa would be the same. So if any of you are making the trip to qualies, make sure you pay them a visit and show your support
So cheers girls for following and living a dream, all the best for the future, but for now just focus on one thing: winning
Bye girls, seenig as your proffessional and all, I'll have one for you
