Re: amazing winning streaks

If you are counting winning streaks from 1995, then how come Steffi's 32 match win streak is not listed?

And Venus beat them all. LOL.
Exactly Vees streak was amazing plus didnt Sprem have an amazing run of matches on the challenges won like a few of them in a rown then got to the final of strasbourg or something

Re: amazing winning streaks

I believe that Martina made 40 matches winning streak before she loses to Ivo Majoli in French Open Final in 1997!

I agree with his observation. Venus' Grandslam runs during that time were unbelievable Martina then Serena then Lindsay. I'm just wondering these matches include Olympics why not include Fed cup matches as well?

Martina would have 38 matches straight then with these included in between her Paris and Miami tournaments:

FED CUP WORLD GRP 1
FC, VARIOUS, March 2, 1997, $ 0 , MIXED (M)
Draw: 34M/0Q/16D, Rank: 0, Seed/Entry: /Q

Rnd Opponent Rank W/L Score
Q- R1 H2H STUDENIKOVA, KATARINA W 6-1 6-3
Q- R1 H2H HABSUDOVA, KARINA W 6-2 6-0

P.S. if Martina didn't lose to Iva Majoli she would have had a 58 straight match win streak!!!! Dumb horse riding....

oh i got this friday her wta profile: " Undisputed world No.1, her 12 titles and .938 winning percentage the best of any player in the 1990s; began year with 37 wins, equaling second-best season start all-time with Navratilova in 1978 (Graf 45-0 in 1987); so she has indeed started 1997 with a 37 win match streak not 36. :P

Re: amazing winning streaks

Why is Hopman Cup 2003 included in Serena's streak? Isn't this tournament generally regarded as an exhibition?

Re: amazing winning streaks

Will you update it for Martina Hingis having a 37 match streak as stated at her WTA profile? Thanks!

Yeah, very good streak, too bad Conchita lost her groove when it really mattered, against Nº1 player in a Grand Slam event; well, after all she could rarely earn a win against Nº1 in any tournament. But it's still impressive

Re: amazing winning streaks

Well, I get you don't take "grannies" into this competition (I really don't see why not as their wins count as much as today's, they won their matches on the same tennis court and with not-wooden rackets too, if we count only those players)but if you take Conchita's 95 I guess Steffi's strek must be included too, as she won 36 matches since November 93 (YEC) to April 94 (l. to Sánchez in Hamburg or Berlin). Also, in 1995 she won 33 matches, between February (Paris) and August (l. to Coetzer at Canadian), and her streak is FAR more impressive than Conchita's as she took Miami AND the French and Wimbledon during it.
Not to mention Navratilova's 74 consecutive wins (among other streaks) as well as Steffi's 66 wins between 1989 and 1990 (among other streaks of hers). And also some of Seles', as the 26 wins streak since 1991 USOpen to 1992 Miami (l. to Capriati), or 34 wins since 1992 USOpen to 1993 Paris in February (l. to granny Navratilova). And I do think her streaks are the most remarkable as I think field depth was the greatest in women's tennis (I mean, considering her big rivals and top players, not the lesser players) as she had to beat GREAT players as Navratilova, Graf, Sabatini, Sánchez-Vicario, Capriati among others. IMO
