Statement from Steve Wood, Chief Executive Officer of Tennis Australia, regarding Alicia Molik:
"Following Alicia’s retirement from her first round match at the Swisscom Challenge in Zurich, she has advised Tennis Australia she will take a substantial period of time off from tennis in order to seek further treatment for vestibular neuronitis.
Alicia has been incredibly unlucky to have been struck down with this condition following a breakthrough season in 2004 and reaching a career-high ranking of world No.8 in February this year.
We will certainly miss seeing Alicia in action over the summer, however regaining her health must be the top priority and Tennis Australia will provide her with any support she needs during this difficult time.
I’m sure I can speak on behalf of the entire Australian tennis community when I wish Alicia all the best for her recovery and hope to see her back on court soon."
Does that mean Stosur will play Hopman?
