Olaru & Solovyeva Conquer Nürnberg Too
Raluca Olaru and Valeria Solovyeva overcame a string of match points to topple top seeds Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke and win their first WTA doubles title together in Nürnberg.

NÜRNBERG, Germany - Playing in just their second WTA tournament together, Raluca Olaru and Valeria Solovyeva went all the way to the NÜRNBERGER VERSICHERUNGSCUP title, punctuating their victory with a dramatic win over the No.1 seeds, Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke.
After dropping a 32-minute first set, 6-2, the unseeded Olaru and Solovyeva found themselves in deep trouble with Olaru falling behind 0-40 in her 3-4 service game, just five points from losing. They got out of that one, though, and took the second set in a tie-break to push the match to a match tie-break.
Groenefeld and Peschke stormed out to a 7-3 lead and eventually built triple match point at 9-6, but again Olaru and Solovyeva fought back, reeling off the last five points in a row - including getting a double fault from their opponents at 9-all - to finish off the one-hour, 52-minute, 26 76(3) 119 victory.
"It was definitely the match of my life," Solovyeva jubilated. "To play such great opponents for your first title together is a big opportunity and we gave it our all, and it worked out. We're really happy.
"It's just the second time we're playing together - the first time we played was a final in Katowice this year, and now we've won a title, so basically we feel great as a team. We understand the game well together. Also off the court we get along really well and it's a lot of fun whenever we're together.
"Those are the main reasons we're having so much success already."
They may have won their first WTA doubles title together, but not their first individually. Olaru now has three WTA doubles titles, having won Tashkent in 2008 (with Olga Savchuk) and Acapulco in 2011 (with Mariya Koryttseva). Solovyeva now has two, having won Baku last year (with Irina Buryachok).
Groenefeld and Peschke have two WTA doubles titles together, first at Linz last year and most recently at Brussels just a few weeks ago. Groenefeld has 13 WTA doubles titles individually, Peschke 25.
Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."
