Seems a joke, but its serious!
In most countries you don't need to carry any document with you, but in Spain (at least for spaniards) is mandatory to carry a proper ID. For most people is hard to understand the situation because it's way different in their countries, but it's that way!
I'll recommend you to go to a police office and ask about that
That might be a good idea to ask the police
there's a police station on my way to the train so I'll think about it

You say if a foreigner stays in Spain for more than 3 months, they have to get NIE. For the record, most cops in Spain are retarded. I'd bet all my money that they don't know that rule.
Yeah, that's what I've been told by everybody (Erasmus people and the people in the International Office). And another thing is how would they know that I'm not just a tourist?
Lol, Mikel, in Spain police can stop you and ask for an ID any moment! If you do not carry something with you they can go with you to your home so you show the ID to them! Does not happen very often unless you are doing something weird, scandalous, etc.!
Kim, for longer stays it's better to have it, will it change your life?? I do not think so, but if it does not take too long, etc. I'd rather get it just in case you finally need it!!
Lol @ will it change your life
Well I've heard that you need to go there early in the morning because they give you limited numbers to get into the line. I know people who didn't get it like 5 times and then decided to screw it
I also know one girl who got the last number, waited for 5 hours just to find out that she needed to have a picture for her form which she later on found out wasn't needed at all
This is true, dear Mikel! For example, cops ask me one day for my ID while i was sitting on a bench in Huesca's bus station, for any reason. They checked my name, asking me where i was going and told me that in few weeks it was going to expire, "so better to renew it asap!"
Once I got lost at Plaza Catalunya in Barcelona, it was the middle of the night and I decided to ask the police for a road and that was one of the two days I forgot to take my ID with me
I'm glad he didn't want my ID then
I was like: no puedo encontrar mi parada and then porque he perdido el ultimo tren
the policeman was very helpful though
It was 30degrees here today whereas at home it was like 10. I'm loving this Spain more and more
