I had to re-register as my old password was from a different country I lived in.. have changed my user name, but would prefer to go back to what my original was... also was a Senior Member, but now with new name, I am a Junior Member. Can anyone tell me who to write to about this? Thanks

I've been trying all day to log in. I finally saw this thread and tried to get an email sent to me so that I can change my password. No luck. I keep getting that I've entered the incorrect symbols for the string verification. I thought the site had been hacked too.

Hey guys,

I understand your concerns with this sudden, and seemingly aggressive change.

The article fails to mention that the breach was for a third party plugin.
This breach is on countless sites across the internet and not just limited to ours.

Their system was compromised and they grabbed user data for us and thousands of others.
We cleared our part of the breach and went this route to further security.
This is also in place as many members on the internet use the same or similar passwords across all things they use.

Hackers who have access to these accounts, may be able to access other platforms where the same email and/or passwords are used.
Other platforms have been compromised as well, including Twitter, Linkedin etc. We are just trying to get ahead of this, and nip it in the bud as soon as possible.

We cannot go into detail at the moment as it is being dealt with on a legal level.

If there are any other questions/concerns/feedback, please feel free to post them here.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,

Richard.

According to various reports - those sites are all owned by Verticalscope. The recent Twitter hack was different. I'm wondering why VS doesn't maintain more secure isolation between sites or even groups of sites. Sure responsibility for 1000+ sites is no small task but still . . .

If people are like me some of them wound up setting up a new account, then receiving instructions on how to retrieve their old account and then getting banned for having two accounts on the same email address.

While I'd like to have my old name back unless I get instructions on how to delete the duplicate on my old email address, and it's done, I think I'll be good with this name.

I don't mind being a junior poster again. :)

On the other hand I don't have a problem with redoing the passwords. Unfortunately, the internet is what it is and people are constantly coming up with ways to steal info.

Hi lovely people - mykarma is having issues. She couldn't get the login to work, and when she created a second account to try to access the board so she could contact the admins, she was flagged for having a duplicate account and now her account is coming up as disabled. Can someone help her out, or tell me what she has to do to get her old account (mykarma) online? the email attached to mykarma still works if you want to try contacting her directly.

I am unable to change my email or password  I type it all in and click save changes but nothing happens. What a crock. Someone tell the useless site owners to do something.

Thanks Mods for trying to help. The fallout has been unfairly dumped on you.
