Re: The Danes are coming - Danish juniors thread

2013 Nordic Junior Championships (U 14 Teams)
Each tie consists of 4 singles matches & 2 doubles matches. Match tiebreak also in singles matches. Denmark's results (Danish players always mentioned first):

Denmark vs Finland 3-3
Sofie Bjerringgaard lost to Marinella Minetti 67(1) 36
Ida Krause d. Venla Andersson 63 76(3)
Helena Francati d. Veera Antonen 75 60
Sofia Munch lost to Matilda Vainio 67(4) 57
Bjerringgaard/Krause d. Liebkind/Antonen 63 60
Francati/Hillingsø lost to Minetti/Andersson 57 67(3)

Denmark vs Norway 3-3
Sofie Bjerringgaard lost to Malene Helgö 26 76(6) [6-10]
Helena Francati lost to Astrid Brune Olsen 36 16
Sofia Munch lost to Brit Storhaug 16 46
Rebekka Hillingsø d. Sangeeta Roopan 63 62
Bjerringgaard/Krause d. Helgö/Brune Olsen 46 76(4) [10-7]
Francati/Hillingsø d. Storhaug/Roopan 46 63 [10-6]

Denmark vs Sweden 3-3
Sofie Bjerringgaard lost to Julita Sanér 60 16 [9-11]
Ida Krause d. Alexandra Viktorovitch 76 46 [10-2]
Helena Francati lost to Melis Yasar 67(2) 36
Rebekka Hillingsø d. Josefin Opitz 63 63
Bjerringgaard/Krause d. Sanér/Yasar 75 63
Francati/Hillingsø lost to Opitz/Axelsson 16 36

All three of Denmark's ties ended 3-3! Unbelieveable. Norway won the girl's event because they defeated both Finland and Sweden 5-1. Denmark came second in the girl's tournament but it was really close this year among all nations. There were many close matches, and quite a few match tiebreaks were decisive. Overall really good performances by the Danes this year.

The format was changed this year. A year ago, the Championships were U 13 and U15 events: Denmark won both U13 AND U15 on the girl's side in 2012, and also won the combined event, which included the boy's U13 and U15 teams. This year Denmark was 3rd in the combined event, but all 4 Nordic nations ended up with the same amount of points, so sets won/lost was decisive!
