I saw her on TV this afternoon (she's really beautiful!! ) and I think I understood that she's going to commentate on RTBF next year. At least I think that's what she said My French level is dropping since I finished secondary school

She's really nice! I talked to her once (Patty came with us and that's how we started talking) at a concert where she was too (Basepop, in Vorst Nationaal). She has a company with hostesses that took care of the concert (publicity stands for base, animation during the pause,...)?

I still remember her steep career. That was great, we had Appelmans and Monami, but no other top-100 players at the time, I think. In half a year she climbed to a place in the top-50 (with a victory over Spirlea somewhere in Italy). Unfortunately, she hurt herself during her first big match at a grandslam (center court i believe against Seles or something) and she could never live to her potential again

I didn't know she speaks that well French, because she is from Antwerp. Hope she enjoys herself !

Well, she was close to top-50

Is that a year-ending ranking or all-time high? I really thought she was top-50 at a certain moment... Could be wrong, though, my memorie does fail on me sometimes

She is from Antwerp, has the accent and all

Well, we had Courtois in the top 50 (48, protected ranking in 1997). In fact, Stéphanie got an ankle injury against Sanchez (Australian Open, R2, after 1 game).
It was Courtois who defaulted against Seles at US Open 96 because of a knee injury.

Thanks Bram and tennisbelge,

I keep telling myself now that I was almost right.
Nice to see those figures again.

I still remember the TV shots of Stéphanie lying on the ground in agony and Sanchez looking worried at her.

Was I even right about her biggest victory against Spirlea? What I remember from the reports I read back then was that Spirlea got disqualified because of bad behavior on the court. Spirlea was known for her bad temper and I think playing against Stéphanie didn't help (her game resembles a lot like the one of Emily Loit, with a lot of variety). She must have gotten really frustrated with herself because of the junk Stéphanie throwed at her.

All about Belgian Tennis. In French and there is also a version in Dutch.
If someday someone wants to allow me to make my living with this site there will be an English version too
