Ali begins her year (just like the other 3 belgian girls) in Auckland.
She's the 4th seed at the qualifications and opens against Renata Veracova.
Hope to see her back in the top 100

Alison defeated Voracova 7-6(7) 7-6(6)
I think she saved 4 set points in the first and 1 in the second. The scoreline doesn't exactly boost confidence, but at least she wasn't the one choking this time.
She has a relatively easy draw with an out of form Hradecka or Westbury (who?) next and then Eguchi or Glatch.

Wow, close second set! Think she was up 3-0* 40-15*... then left, thinking it would be a bagel or breadstick

I don't think Alison (or Mestach) will play Antwerp? The week prior the Fed Cup meeting in group I of the Europa zone ends on saturday. So they would all need a main draw WC.

Sometimes it happens that players don't stay in Fed Cup for the whole week. So let's say that two of them (Wickmayer, Mestach, Van Uytvanck) get an Antwerp MD WC, it's possible that the third one that doesn't get it, leaves a bit earlier from Fed Cup.
They could also postpone the Q1 match in Antwerp with one day.

Bad start of the year
Lost to two top 200 players in threesets...

I hope it's just a matter of getting match rhythm, at least she's directly onto the maindraw of the AO

It looks like Alison just made the cut off for the AO, she's the last player to be accepted onto the maindraw

Indeed, but at this moment I don't know if that is good thing...

First round vs. Rybarikova. I think this is a good draw, Rybarikova seems to be slumping a bit.
