Re: week 27: Wimbledon-GS, Middelburg-$25k, Brussels, Sharm El Sheikh-$10k
Nicky turns 24 in September. In 2010 she had some good results in summer, reaching back-to-back $10k finals in Westende and Charleroi, beating people like Naomi Broady, Alison Van Uytvanck, Alize Lim. She reached a career-high singles ranking of 644, playing only in and around Belgium since she had already opened her own beauty salon by then.
There were talks during winter 2010-2011 that she would try to go for a tennis career, focussing on doubles only, as she didn't think she would get high enough in singles to really make a living out of tennis, but had a shot in doubles. It was said she would go and play with Nancy Feber, who would make a doubles comeback. In the end that never happened (Feber later made a very shortlived and not very succesful doubles comeback with Els Callens). No idea why, she probably overthought everything and chose the safest option.
