Post Note from A Williams fan

I just watched the Justine-Serena QF at Sanex.

I think I've just fallen in love with Justine. What a wonderful player! Her backhand, especially on the run is just physical perfection in motion. I'm going to tape it if I can, to show to my Tai Chi instructor. And she's so AGGRESSIVE.

NO ONE walks in on Serena Williams' groundstrokes like that. But Justine committed to going to the net and she got there come hell or high water.

But the first six games? When they both had the running game untracked? Athletic perfection. They were running SO fast, SO wide, hitting SO hard, and they were trying to build points on each other. There aren't five other players on the tour who can even run that fast, much less play tactical tennis at it.

But Justine was down a break, wasn't winning at the running game. They were playing ten feet outside the sidelines on the forehand side. So Justine imposed her will on the match and brought it back within the sidelines. And played Serena even til the fateful moment in the tie break. Serena was WINNING with the wide running game, and Justine forced her out of it. WITHOUT giving Serena easy balls up the middle to hit.

Serena was always the most beautiful mover on the tour, but Justine, in her own way, is just as good. Just as aesthetically pleasing to watch. They're like art these two. Only they both grit their teeth and fight and claw and scratch and won't back off. You can't not love someone who moves like that. Who fights like that. Who plays the mental game of tennis that well.

Add one to the list of those who appreciate Justine. She's beautiful to watch.

[Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you.]

That post is greatly appreciated by us Justine fans who are feeling gloomy right now. What a nice thing to do, Volcana! It means a lot to me. <img src="graemlins/kiss.gif" border="0" alt="[Kiss]" />
