Yes, I have the same idea.
It would be good for Elise to have the chance to play there.
But I guess they have chosen Anso because of her 'experience' in Fedcup?
(and for the doubles matches especially)
It's not like they chose her for her great results lately...

The draw has been made and Belgium has been drawn in Pool D.
Good draw! I think we can beat them all, but Pironkova & Ostapenko will be the tougher ones...
But I believe we can do it!
POOL D
Hungary - Reka-Luca Jani, Dalma Galfi, Anna Bondar, Fanny Stollar
Belgium - Yanina Wickmayer, Alison Van Uytvanck, An-Sophie Mestach, Ysaline Bonaventure
Bulgaria - Tsvetana Pironkova, Elitsa Kostova, Isabella Shinikova, Dia Evtimova
Latvia - Jelena Ostapenko, Diana Marcinkevica, Darta-Elizabete Emulina, Anna Ozerova

Better draw than last year at least
Indeed, Pironkova and Ostapenko will be the tough ones.
Go team Belgium!
Just to make sure I remember this correctly: if they end first in their group, are they qualified to compete for a spot in WGII immediately? Or do they first need to beat yet another country that also ended first in their respective group?

The latter
The winner of Belgium's pool will be playing the winner of Pool B, which has Georgia, South Africa, and Great Britain (Konta/Watson/Smith/Rae...oops)

Wicky
Strange to see Benoit in the team and not Mertens. Did Elise refuse or did they simply not ask her?

Strange choice indeed... Don't know if we still have a chance here
But good for Marie!

Don't underestimate Galfi neither
Benoit probably won't play actually

Without Wickmayer it is unlikely we can qualify. So I think every girl will get a chance to play, as the chance of dead rubbers is rather high in my opinion.

It sucks
It will be very tough now. When will the draw will be made? When they start playing?

Belgium beat Latvia, Ysa won in straight sets and Ali beat Ostapenko in three (got broken once and therefore lost the 2nd set, but served 9 aces)
In the other match in the pool, Bulgaria (Pironkova/Kostova) beat Hungary.

Ysa & Anso won their last match as well, with 6-0 6-1

And they won 3-0 against Hungary
They have to play against Bulgaria to win the group

Code violation against Watson. Ali saved break points.
