2009 AO WC PLAYOFF: CHAMPION! Australian Open MDWC!

Dokic had entered the WC Playoff as the #2 Seed, and is played from the 15th - 21st of December, 2008.

Being seeded means Jelena won't have to play Jessica Moore (#138), Monique Adamczak (#203) or Sophie Ferguson (#268) until atleast the quarterfinals.
Like that would matter anyway, though.

I agree, she would slam those girls blindfolded , she's probably going to be in better form and shape than when she won the playoffs in 2006

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!

The only threat is Moore, the other girls Dokic should beat handily.

Re: 2009 Australian Open WC Playoff

Moore's ranking is only so high because she beat Ditty in Aus Open R1 and Oudin in US Open R1.
Without that she's not even Top 200, she's not that good IMO.
I think her main rivals will be Sophie Ferguson, Monika Wejnert and maybe Holland and Rogowska.

Ferguson has been having a great run in the Asian ITF's of late. I think she'll be strong competition, even though I despise her lack of commitment.
Ironic coming from a Dokic fan, I know.

Also, Wejnert just won that $25K in only her 4th Women's event, and Holland also reached a $25K final earlier on in Kawana. Rogowska beat Dokic in last years playoff, well she led 6-3 3-1 ret.
I'd be more concerned if she had to play one these players over Moore.

Jelena does have too much game for these gals - but it comes down to fitness. Last year it failed her, but she had no match fitness base to work with. She should be in better shape atm - hopefully she's been going hard at it since Linz and she won't be prone to any niggling injuries.
She has to play 6 matches to win through - it will be tough w/o many matches in the last few months. I agree only Rogowska and Holland could pull off an upset in an early round.

There's more to life than just being happy.

Let's hope for a repeat of this
