Main draw entries and qualifying draw entries work differently. If a player is listed in the main draw list and hasn't withdrawn when the tournament begins, they are automatically entered into the main draw. However, the qualifying draw list is basically only a guideline. It lets players know whether or not they are definitely in the qualifying draw or not. In order to actually be placed in the qualifying draw, one must be present at the event and sign in. Many players in the qualifying draw and the majority of alternates don't show up and sign in, which is why you'll often find a big difference between the qualifying list and the actual qualifying draw.

LOL. Exactly.

Anyway, Jelena's just lame, unless she has a fucking good reason as to why she's been MIA since Australia. I can't find positivity like a couple of others here, when Jelena hasn't given us one thing to be positive about over the last several years. Not one.

I'd be willing to bet you a lot of money that she doesn't show.

I'm not saying I think she'll show. But it's not impossible for her to make the draw just because she's an alternate.

Re: Jelena's Schedule?

You newbies are so convinced that Jelena will play and do well

You haven't been on this board following her results for that long...you'll soon understand why people like WhatTheDeuce, King Aaron and JustDoIt are feeling the way they are in the next few months or so

Re: Jelena's Schedule?

Thanks for that OZTENNIS, we're all uplifted by your abounding positivity.

I know what Jelena has done in the past, but I'm just going to keep holding on to that glimmer of hope.

Whoever said that Jelena might just be holding onto her WC's has a point. I think that's the most positive thing that a Dokic fan can take at the moment. Maybe she will play an ITF, get a ranking, and then try for WC's into WTA level tournaments. That would be smart. Do it, Jelena.

you newbies, if your referring to me, i've been a fan since 2002, and have followed her results, i know this is like 2006 and 2007 where she sucked and played crappy tournies and played like shit.
i still think she's committed to play.
i was a member in 2003, but forgot about website and username, and rejoined.
so STFU, you stupid jackass

Re: Jelena's Schedule?

She didn't ask for a WC but she will show up for a sign in as a 90th alternate - yeah right

Ivanovic Cibulkova Ula Radwańska Groth Pennetta

What a pathetic fan you are - "play a point and retire for all I care haha..."

Jelena doesn't need those kind of fans, who 'turn' on her because she hasn't played for over a month

How on earth do you fathom that she has WASTED 2 months JustDoIt?

"And I am sure she did not train hard there. She screwed it again."

A lot of you are jumping to conclusions because Jelena isn't playing and giving you the satisfaction you think you deserve.

My other favourite player Mary Pierce has been out for almost 18 months now and if you go over to her forum you will find only positive messages of support - we even posted our messages into a specific forum topic and someone presented them to Mary a while ago for motivation. She loved them.

Maybe we can do the same thing for Jelena, something constructive, instead of bagging her and venting your anger.

Re: Jelena's Schedule?

You act like this "not playing for months at a time" is a new trend with Jelena. She's been doing this for years now. I don't understand where all your optimism comes from, seriously. Jelena is doing the same thing now that she's done for several years, and you're all just in denial about it. Unless she comes out with a real valid reason as to why she hasn't been playing, this is bullshit, typical Dokic behavior - nothing more or less.

I'm just tired of supporting her time and time and time and time again, only for her to let us down every single time. And I'm upset at myself for actually believing her this time when she sounded like things would really be different.

Anyway, I don't give a shit if some of you don't like me or don't want to hear my negative opinions. I won't stop posting them. And for the record, I'll support Dokic all the time, whenever she plays, whether it be once a year or once a week. I love her that much as a player and I'm loyal. That said, I still don't condone what she's doing, and I think it's pathetic.

How many times does it take to realise that Jelena owes you nothing. She is not playing tennis to give your life meaning, she is doing it for herself, as she should.

You should rejoice in her comeback, whichever direction it takes and however long it takes, instead of acting like a spoilt child

Again, I repeat, Jelena owes you nothing.

You gotta stop acting like she owes you something. Like she has 'done you wrong'. It's so lame and immature.

And as for "not playing for months at a time", did you not read the press reports Jelena gave in Australia when she spoke about not wanting to play the last couple of years because her head wasn't right? Or did you conveniently forget that?

It's obvious to me that she is in a much better place this year, and not playing for a month since the AO Qualifying is no sign her 'career is over'.

A supporter is someone who supports their player ALL the time, irrespective of whether they are playing, or eating a packet of chips.

I'm not saying she owes me or any of us anything. She owes it to herself though. Her talent is more than worth it. That's why I'm sad to see her waste herself like this. I'm going by the words coming from HER mouth that SHE loves to play tennis and SHE wants to make a life of it again. K?

Stop taking things overly literally.
