Thumbs up New coach??!!

Hi everyone

Long time lurker, first post!

What does everyone make of the UNCONFIRMED news that Iva Majoli's brother Dado is Jelena's bew coach?

If this is true then it sounds like Jelena's not giving up on her tennis career which is great!

See it here:

I found this article online: http://www.vecernji-list.hr/newsroom...52729/index.do

But it is in (I think) Croatian, or some other language, so I'm not sure what it says but I assume along the lines Iva's brother is her new coach?

Serbian tennis player Jelena Dokic, after an ineffectual professional cooperation with Borna Bikic from Zagreb, will try to return on WTA list by Dado Majoli, brother of former world number 4, Iva Majoli. It's good news for young Jelena, who had serious private problems after starting successes in her professional tennis career.

Dado Majoli coaches Jelena two months already, and results of its cooperation we will see at the beginning of June, when she starts with new tennis' battles again.

- Jelena has trained at Iva Majoli's tennis centre, our meeting was suddenly. We was scheduled a probationary cooperation that last two months already. When we be sure that it will be productive we'll conclude an agreement - told Dado Majoli for Croatian Jutarnji list and added that next for Jelena is a small tournament, most likely on clay.

We find that organizers of Croatian Ladies Open plans to give Jelena a wild card. This tournament starts on 12th June 2006. There is chance if she begins with wins again to get a wild card for Wimbledon, too.

We observed how Jelena is "dangerously" near by form of her best career days, she follows advices of Dado 100% and uses last atoms of herself to hit fantastic strokes after few hours of strenuous training.

Good Luck Jelena, please come back

Does anyone know if the article/newspaper is reputable?

Anyhow, at least we got some news about her. I have my fingers crossed that things will turn out well.

This is translation with little corrections:

Thanks Milan for the translations, it sounds very promising for Jelena "dangerously" close to top form, huh ... let's hope so. Also this idea she might get a WC to the 50K in Zagreb, Croatia is good news. Hopefully she can do well there and as the article says, maybe be considered for a WC for Wimbledon.

Let's hope now with a coach to guide her, she will be able to get on track with her tennis. From watching her match at the AUS Open, I could tell she was very close to top 50 form even though she wasn't fully fit, and she was hitting some awesome shots. She just needs the wins under her belt and to stay on track, even if she loses some close matches, just keep going.

Good Luck Jela

Andrew's reaction

This is exciting news for me as a fan of both Jelena and Iva! Dado was one of Iva's main coaches when she was playing (1990-2004).

The tournament-director of ITF Zagreb is none other than Iva herself!

I really hope this is true (even though few weeks ago Milan said Jelena would retire soon). Go Jelena!

Best thing about this news is probably the fact that his last name isn't Bikic. However he's croat. So it means she will stay in Croatia. Don't think Croatia have had good influence on her over past few years. She needs drastic changes IMHO. She should train in Spain or Italy for example.

Milan is right. This is from "The Australian"

Dokic calls on coach No.14
By Paul Malone
May 23, 2006

JELENA Dokic will return to the tennis circuit next month armed with coach No. 14.

Dado Majoli, brother of Croatia's former French Open champion Iva Majoli, started coaching Dokic last month after she stopped working with Borna Bikic and is the latest man charged with reversing a career crash which sees her ranked No. 683 in the world.

Dokic, uninjured after a car accident last month in Zagreb, is listed on a fan website as having 13 previous coaches, including eight Australians and her estranged father Damir.

The 23-year-old former world No. 4 has yet to respond to Tennis Australia's offer of coaching and sports science assistance in its Australian Institute of Sport and Fed Cup squads.

She is reported to be a wildcard for the Croatian Open, which starts on June 12.

The offer of a wildcard from a tournament in the country of her birth will give TA no additional reason to expect her on-off relationship with Australian tennis to become clarified anytime soon.

Dokic was most recently beaten in the first round of a $25,000 Futures event in Biarritz, France.
