Re: Ana Konjuh

Ana did great job! She will enter the rankings for the first time and has excellent basis for next year on pro circuit!
Good luck now in juniors!

Ana Konjuh | Donna Vekic | Mirjana Lucic-Baroni | Ana Ivanovic | Nicole Vaidisova

Re: Ana Konjuh

Youngest player in juniors top 100, youngest player on Wimbledon and Rolland Garros, youngest player on WTA list.

Bigger talent then Donna (IMO), can't wait to see them in Fed Cup in few years, such a strong team

She's not the youngest on the WTA list (Tornado Ali Black is), but she's younger than anyone placed ahead of her (although the youngest girl in that category (Lizette Cabrera) is just 8 days older), according to the rankings from next Monday on.

I too think she's more talented than Donna, but a better talent doesn't imply a better development. She still has a lot of work to do to achieve what Donna has achieved this year. However, Croatia has been blessed with these girls

It's too early for such assessments, cause we've seen very few matches by Ana, and they were not at a very high level either. It'll be interesting to see how she handles real pressure and serious challenges, probably as soon as next year. So far she is definately impressive, but I wouldn't go on comparing the two, cause they're completely different players. And while physical abilities are important, there's also mental aspect, not to mention athletic intelect (decision-making skills). I do agree that watching Ana, you can't help but think that technically she could be even better than Donna (although she does have weakness, just like everybody out there), but let's wait for her to spend a year on tour before making such claims

Re: Ana Konjuh

I said few year ago: we are blassed we have Borna, Donna and this girl. But there is no any reason to comparer them. It's obvious Donna has the best chance to make biggiest career because she is in Academy full-time. I just hope lacknees of money will not have part in their's career. I know Borna's father is laywer and they have money, as I know Borna is in some Academy in London (maybe same like Donna is) from this summer. Half time he is there, half time at home (where he has Ivanisevic on regular basis). I don't know what is with Ana (but seems good so far).
Interesting thing is I play tennis at Smrikva ball, 2nd best tennis tourney for U10 or U12 in the World (in Stinjan, near Pula), and I am good with owner so I know such a things.

Guys, I'm not disrespectful in any way, but try to avoid spelling the name of the Pula town with Romanians around, 'cause the term 'pulă' (or, articulate, 'pula') is a very nasty word in our language

Thanks for sharing this useful bit of info if we ever find ourselves in Romania

P. S. May I ask what's your connection to Croatia - just interested in our players or you have some relatives here maybe?

Re: Ana Konjuh

hopefully she does well in juniors in the coming months and stags a top10 spot so she can have a few JEs. Do JEs count towards the number of tournaments she's allowed to play per year or do they count as merit entries?

ugh, why do they all suck????????

Re: Ana Konjuh

Since it's safe to assume she'll be playing a mix of junior and pro events next year, it'll be crucial for her to be exposed to as much variety on the tennis courts as possible, in order to perpare her for the WTA tour. That means all surfaces, weather conditions and opponent types. I especially would like to see her play on clay as much as possible, where there's the greatest chance to face those pesky moonballers, which are a nemesis of every agressive (attacking) player.

In terms of ranking, that'll be of lesser importance in 2013 IMO, and if she could cut it in half by year's end, that would be nice. If she could advance some 100 spots further than that and maybe sneak into AO QD in 2014, that would be spectacular.

All in all, if she can stay healthy we'll have an interesting year ahead.

P. S. I tried to find out more about JE but couldn't find anything we don't already know.
