Re: Ana Konjuh

Well, she still can get WC in Auckland. And her chances are bigger now since Petrova had a death in family and probably wont play.

Yes, petrova withdrew. So Ana is still in the running.

The tournament director also said that the qualifying WCs will go to overs eases 15 years old.

Re: Ana Konjuh

According to Spiceboy, Ana can't receive a WC in Auckland because she is listed as an alternate in Brisbane Didn't know about this rule. Does that mean she'd have to pull out of Brisbane in order to receive it or...?

Did not know either. I thought it was only if you are already in main draw or qualifying.

I find it odd that she signed up for Brisbane in the first place. Chances to get into Brisbane quali draw are really really low. Currently last in is Rodionova (163).

Well, chances are slim, but stranger things have happened (yesterday, i.e. 17 days before the quali draw is made, she was reportedly 15th outside). I too find it odd, however, that we're talking about her in this context...like, discussing wether she'll open the season in Brisbane or Auckland - that's so unlike most 16 year-olds of today's WTA tour But then, she is not "most people"... I'm really OK with any tournament choice, as long as she is healthy. She's got enough talent and work ethic to make things right regardless of the event which she enters.

Re: Ana Konjuh

Cut-off in Auckland is 71 for MD and 227 for QD. So Ana could maybe even reach qualies here on her own, but I'm not sure her team would settle for that.

Re: Ana Konjuh

This time last year Ana was pretty much just starting out on Tour (got her first ranking on Nov. 26th). Now we're already approaching the second volume of her thread - 234 posts to go

I can say with 100% certainty that Ana can receive a wildcard in Auckland. The tournament organizer Karl is a smart guy, he would not have wasted any energy trying to get a player they were ineligible to go for. I want to say something more, I really do.

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

OK, don't kill the messenger, I'm just reporting what people are saying in other threads... I'd be happy to see her in either of these events really. Counting the days here.

Don't overhype the other messenger

As I've said earlier, I really hope they sign the damn thing!!! Players are slowly starting to arrive in Auckland and.... *builds the suspense

Yeah no specific rule against that in the rulebook.

It will be nice to hear from her ( or her camp ) anyway just 11 days to go

Re: Ana Konjuh

Haha, she watched "Home alone" last night on RTL TV, just like I did...for the 789301274389210th time...pathetic from my side (she can be forgiven given her age of course)
