Re: Ana Konjuh

Now that it is well and truly the offseason, I suppose I will post more beautiful pictures of Croatia.

Plitvice Lakes

(Unknown location - perhaps same as above, in the winter)

Re: Ana Konjuh

Ana is #252 in the latest rankings (new c-h, of course) with officially 9 tournaments played - not sure why they count only 9 though, cause she did play 10

The only ones with a better ranking and the same or lesser number of events played on the whole WTA are Gajdosova and Kleybanova, numbers 232 and 185 respectively, both with 7 tournaments played this year. Even if we count 10 events for Ana, there are just two more girls ranked better than her and with the same number of tournaments played - Amanmuradova at #206 and Siegemund at #234.

The smallest number of events played by anyone in the top 100 is 14. Let's see if Ana can do it with 12 next year

Actually up to 18
AO + USO Finals and if she made Final at Wimbledon she would get another + Merited Increases

I'm aware of the possibilty, but we don't know if she'll use any of those next year or the year after that...as I understand it they are transferable.

1st of all, why are they transferable? And 2nd, why would she transfer them the year after

As guichard dug it out..."Merited increases earned in one birth year may be carried over to subsequent birth years provided that the player does not exceed four total merited increases per birth year." (wta rulebook page 250) - as to why that is possible, ask folks at WTA. As for why would anyone transfer them, I'm sure there are many different scenarios conserning scheduling, injuries etc. which would make one consider doing that. I'm just saying that it's a possibility, cause she theoretically could've played two more tournaments this year as well, but she didn't:

Year-End Top 5 Ranked ITF Juniors
Upon achieving a Top 5 Year-End ITF Junior Circuit Ranking, players aged 15-17 will be eligible for merited increases as follows:
...
(b) Players aged 15 are allowed up to two (2) merited increases that may be used beginning in their 15th birth year.

So she gets GS Finals + Top 5 Ranking + Normal Mandatory/GS Merited Increases
So she can play 20 tournaments?

Guichard has been blocked from my view by mods so I can't see what he posts
