Under ideal circumstances Ana could win this, but under current...I'm not as confident. Kichenok is playing pretty well lately and throughout the year as well (she is currently on her best ever ranking of 107). Her best wins of 2013 came against Timea Babos (4 & 5 on grass) and Mirjana Lucic-Baroni (5 & 3 on clay). Fun fact: she lost to Friedsam three times this year, winning just one set against her in all those matches. That sounds promising from our perspective, but I wouldn't give that bit of info too much importance right now. Yes, she is capable of surprising losses, like the one to #794 in the Turkish challenger which Donna won, but overall her form this year is solid - she's got a 100k title to her name. Clay seems to be her worst surface, she looks very good on hardcourt, while she also seems to be not as comfortable indoors, just like Ana. Let's see if our girl can do some damage here.
I really like Kichenok twins so this is a bit of a disappointing draw for me. I was hoping for Ana, Nadiya, and Lyuda to all do well here and they are all stuck in the same quarter. Oh well- I'll be happy and sad no matter the result. Gotta pull for Ana in this match though.
This is a really tough draw for Ana, Nadiya Kichenok is having a great season: won two 25ks and a 100k + two 50k finals, and recently made her CH ranking. I'm sure Ana will give her best as usual, but I'm not expecting much
