It is now confirmed in this article that Ana declined the wildcard because of an injury she sustained in Limoges. No further detail was given as to the nature of her injury.

The southern extremities of Ukraine are into Croatia in terms of lines of latitude
Anyway, regardless, in "Southern Europe" also, they play a lot of Indoor Hard/Clay

Re: Ana Konjuh

Well, she hasn't pulled out of Istanbul 50k starting November 4th, so looks like she definately wants to play some more this year. It's of course an indoor hardcourt event, very strong for it's level (unlike some jokes played the week before that) and Ana is currently 15th alternate. Get well soon Ana!

Continental part of Croatia (northern half) is geographically, historically, architecturally and culturally part of central Europe.

Part of Croatia on the Adriatic coast (southern half) is Mediterran...

You can't put whole Croatia in the same region...you just can't...

I agree this makes sense
I meant Central and Eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia...) and I understand that parts of Croatia in the far south are very Mediterranean
It is such a beautiful country

Re: Ana Konjuh

Ana still 15th alt, only about 11 days to go. Should be able to make it, but it might even be a close call. LDA for the main draw is currently at 167.

Re: Ana Konjuh

I have been thinking and now that a rather extensive ITF calendar is out I though that maybe we could start discussing Ana's schedule for next year
Please comment
I thought this for the 1st few months Remember, as a 16 year old she will get 12 events + 2 for making 2 GS Finals and up to 4 extra for Grand Slams and Premier Mandatories (she will need to be around 220 or 230 to be able to Merited Increase her Australian Open tournament )

1. Australian Open Qualifying
2. 50K Bangalore
3. Fed Cup

I know that is really small, but I think that planned trip to America would have been great along with maybe an Asian trip later in the year?

Also, if she doesn't get nominated for Fed Cup which is a possibility given Croatia's strength now (lucky guys ) she can hang around in Australia and play the 50s

Anyway, with a potential 18 Tournaments, Ana can virtually play a full schedule next year if she wanted

Re: Ana Konjuh

Well, that all sounds great, but I can't stop worrying about her elbow and how it will hold up. I guess this upcoming event will tell us something more. She was injured before JLT, played some matches then got injured again in Limoges... doesn't sound nice to say the least. But yes, if she stays healthy she can play a lot and you have good ideas, but I'm not sure she won't get called into FC team cause we're not as strong now as we seem - a lot of our players are struggling to find form lately.

Re: Ana Konjuh

A week to go until Istanbul and Ana is 10th on the quali list - looks like she'll make the MD, although I'm not sure that's good for her at this point. Oh well, we'll have to wait and see.
