Ok guys I followed this girls developement for quite a few months now.
Last month she won the European Junior Championships, Pilzen for girls under 14.
Other success she had this year:
Winner of G16 Junior Croatia Open, Cakovec
Winner of G14 Mladost Grill Open, Zagreb
Winner of G16 Kvarner Open, Rijeka
Also reaching a G16 final in AvignonFR and a couple of SFs.
This year she has a win-loss record of 48-7 currently. With those 4 titles.
She seems to be highly talented, there´s a lot of potential, hope she´s not going to fade away and go her way.
Ana plays Peterson in the QF. Could be tough but it's still better for Ana than having to play Abanda (who lost to Peterson in R2).
In this week's rankings, Ana is 36.25 points behind the #10 player and 38.75 behind #9. That's not a huge difference. If Ana beats Peterson, she will pick up 30 net points in singles. If she wins her QF doubles match she will net another 5 points, for a total of 35.
Good luck the rest of this week, Ana! (Next week too!)
Great for the news, but I don't think she's in the top 10 yet, unless some of the girls were defending (and failed to defend) serious points. The reason is because Ana made 30 points in doubles which is equal to her 6th best result, so she won't make an increase in overall doubles points, and with 80 points that she's made in singles she'll gain only 30, because her 6th best result currently is 50 points. If I'm right this'll bring her point total to 715, which is currently enough for 12th place. Hope I'm wrong.
I'll be duly impressed if Ana beats Siniakova. Siniakova is #3 in the world (her CH) and has already won two Grade A singles titles this year (Bonfiglio and Osaka).
Yeah, speaking about the pro ranking. You guys think that top 500 would be a reasonable goal for Ana by the time she will turn 16? Donna was close to top 300 when she turned 16, but I doubt Ana would choose to play easy tournaments, like Donna did. Therefore, top 500 would mean ~60 points (the equivalent of 5 10K titles) and I think she can do that even by playing medium and tough 10K tourneys in Europe. What do you guys think?
