After spending two months on the sidelines nursing an arm injury, world Junior No. 2 Ana Konjuh returned to action in May to compete on the ITF Pro Circuit and at the mid-summer junior Grand Slams. She reached back-to-back finals at $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit events in Maribor and Montpellier, winning her first pro circuit title at the latter, and the semifinals at both junior Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Here, the 15-year-old Croatian blogs about her eventful summer and taking a well-earned break.

Iím on holiday at home in Dubrovnik this week and itís been really nice to have a rest and be with my family for a little bit. Iíve played a lot of tennis in the last couple of months so a break is really important, and Iím really happy to be with my family because I donít really get a chance to see them too much.

Iím doing some fitness while Iím on holiday but thereís no tennis at all for four days. The fitness isnít anything too serious, just enough to keep me in shape. My coach, Kristian Schneider, sends me an email with the things I have to do Ė just general fitness and stretches, some running and stuff like that. I probably spend about an hour and a half on a session, and do that two times over four or five days while Iím on holiday.

Glad I'm going to US Open this year, hopefully able to see her play a match or two

Re: Ana Konjuh

Can't even describe with words how happy am I that Ana is close to not playing junior events anymore. It wears her out and also losses like this one to Mertens can lower her self esteem. I hope she can win couple rounds in Craiova together with Savić and Njirić
BTW I couldn't find it, but does someone know something new about her elbow injury? Was she in pain again in Switzerland or maybe in Contrexeville or not?

Re: Ana Konjuh

Don't really see the point of her playing USO juniors anyway, except maybe for match practice. With the injury she's not really a major contender for the title, the points are insufficient to grant her a return to #1 and overall I don't see much positive coming out of it. Guess we'll have to wait and see, I might be wrong.

Re: Ana Konjuh

I agree with you. The only advantages are Junior Exempt http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/pla...or-exempt.aspx and merited increases . At the same time if she continues to play well in the pro it will not really matter.

Re: Ana Konjuh

Yes guichard those things are worth playing for I guess, but it's a lot of work for not too much of a reward compared to finishing the year at number 4 for example. Besides, since she won't be defending Eddie Herr + Orange Bowl points she will certainly fall down the rankings by the year's end anyway. So yes, a nice result would be pleasing to see, but I don't think she can benefit greatly from it, especially taking the injury into consideration.

Yes, I agree with you she will not benefit greatly. But finishing the year in top 5(two wins) it is good for the JE/ME which give her some freedom in her pro schedule.

Re: Ana Konjuh

She won't need the JEs anyways if she has a few more good results this year. I thought MEs were based on senior ranking....

ugh, why do they all suck????????

Re: Ana Konjuh

JE: yes but some $50K-$75K have low cut off. Again I believe she won't need it.

ME: Getting directly in the main draw or qualifying of Grand Slam and/or premier mandatory, reaching the final of a Junior Slam and top 5 year end junior ranking.

Re: Ana Konjuh

And again Ana used JE for event in which she would get in main draw with her ranking
