Re: Ana Konjuh

Ilka was ranked so high because of two G2s won and a few decent results at G1s, but she never impressed in important tournaments.
Ana was the clear favourite here. I wanted Ilka to win, though

Re: Ana Konjuh

If Ana beats Adrijana tomorrow, she'll be ranked around #17.

Since several top players are skipping Wimbledon, this means Ana could be seeded (even if some players like Vekic use their WTA ranking for seeding)

Re: Ana Konjuh

Final
Ana KONJUH (CRO) [9] 6-0 6-4 Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO)

Clear victory for Ana
I wonder how is her game fitting on grass.

Ana will get ahead of Belinda Bencic and thus become the second ranked '97 girl, very close behind Abanda.

Re: Ana Konjuh

i got to see both bencic and ana play in that tournament in italy that ana won and I really don't think bencic is even close to ana's level right now...

ugh, why do they all suck????????

Re: Ana Konjuh

Wow, Ana is scary impressive. Offenbach a G1 and she cruised through the draw. She didn't lose a set and lost only 23 games in five matches.

Next week she plays Roehampton, another G1. This will be her first grass tournament so it'll be interesting to see how she does.

Re: Ana Konjuh

This week Ana cut her ranking by more than half, from #40 to #18

There are four players ranked ahead of her who are not on the entry list for Wimbledon (Barty, Putintseva, Khromacheva, Min).

On the other hand, it looks like three players will use their WTA ranking for seeding purposes (Vekic, Gavrilova, Svitolina).

Ana might miss being seeded by just one spot

Re: Ana Konjuh

Ana's section in Wimbledon:

(16)Ana Konjuh (CRO) v Erin Routliffe (CAN)
Oleksandra Korashvili (UKR) v (Q)Catherine Harrison (USA)
Montserrat Gonzalez (PAR) v Ching-Wen Hsu (TPE)
(4)Anna Danilina (KAZ) v Olga Doroshina (RUS)

Doesn't look really scary compared to others, if you ask me. She has a real chance here. If she'd get to QF, which obviously would be a great performance already, she may face Kontaveit or Vickery there, which is too much for Ana I guess.

I wish her the best of luck

Re: Ana Konjuh

I think we all have to take into account that Ana probably isn't used to playing on grass and who knows if she likes it.
Good luck!

Re: Ana Konjuh

My bet is that Ana's game is suitable for grass. And, truth be told, I doubt any of her opponents have real experience on grass.
