Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

WTA Indian Wells, Main Draw:

(26)Monica Niculescu v Bye
Qualifier v Sofia Arvidsson
Ekaterina Makarova v Bethanie Mattek-Sands
Bye v (4)Caroline Wozniacki

Wozzo rematch, please!

R3 is a must and even though Sofia showed some great form recently, I don't think she can beat Monica on slow HC if she doesn't repeat that Dubai performance.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

Why is she playing doubles with Erakovic ? This constant need of playing with different parteners each week has to stop. She reached a slam QF and won a title with Irina-Camelia, and with the Olympics ahead, why stop their collaboration ?

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

I agree. Marina is probably her by far best friend on the circuit and they already went far in junior comptetitions together, but Irina-Camelia and her harmonized very well at the AO and I don't understand it either...

However, the team spirit in the Romanian WTA quad is a bit questionable I already noticed. I guess there is more good friendships played in front of the media than there really is. I don't know...

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

I am surprised too especially since Irina is very friendly and they should get along very well.
However, I am not ready to attribute this to Romanians not getting along but rather to what Curcubeu mentioned with Monica and Marina having a long old relationship.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

We'll see in Miami and although it's important to get along with your doubles partner, the success should always stay in the center of the attention. For example Dulko also split up with her good friend Pennetta to play doubles with Suarez in view of the Olympics.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

Crap, both Monica and Irina-Camelia won their doubles matches, I was hoping they'd lose and realise they're meant for each other

They'll save it for the Olympics when it counts most!

Wait, Nicurakovic def. Govortsova/Rodionova 4-6 7-6(4) 11-9

Monica classic, 2/11 BPs as well!

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

Lost 3-6 3-6

Held once the whole match, squandered GPs in many games and BPs as well, 4 alone at 3-5 in the 2nd. Whatever.

Such a pity, but she really has no serve, devestating.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

Monica But a bad tournament can happen. The fact that she hasn't a serve, isn't really something new

Andrea Petkovic - Sara Errani - Jarka Gajdosova - Alizé Cornet

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

NO, but this was bad even for her slim standards...

And it actually looked quite decent in Doha to be honest.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

WTA Miami, Main Draw:

[3] Petra Kvitova (CZE) bye
[WC] Venus Williams (USA) - Kimiko Date-Krumm (JPN)
[WC] Aleksandra Wozniak (CAN) - Eleni Daniilidou (GRE)
[28] Monica Niculescu (ROU) bye

Tough call. Aleks is in decent form, Monica has problems to hold serve on those slow courts. However, I want to see a match vs. Kvitova in R3.
