Really nice call there. Absolutely spot on.

I was also confident Monica would win but I expected a substantially tougher match but wow!!! Monica really is kicking ass and showing no mercy right now. Pretty awesome stuff. Basically it seems right now any girl 21 or under, making them play Monica is the tennis equivalent of throwing them to the lions.

I think winning in Brazil seems to have further enhanced Moni's confidence and belief in her special game and the way she is going right now, it is just getting very exciting seeing how the rest of 2013 is going to unfold for her. Top 30 is no longer a goal I think, it is a flat out expectation. Top 20 should be the goal at this point and I think she has a very decent shot at it.

You called it!

Now meets Kirsten Flipkens, who provided her own bagel in their only meeting.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

Monica was awesome indeed, but for the life of me I don't understand all the dislike from other, non Romanian fans.
Even at this game she got no cheers (well , except from me ) and there were lots of people applauding loudly each successful play by Svitolina (and there were very few). Later in the day I mentioned her name to a fan of Miriana Lucic and I immediately got a dismissive reaction from the guy, accompanied by a gesture imitating her hitting a slice.

Re: The Amazing and Remarkable Monica Niculescu

Sounds like the match against Mladenovic. Opponent can't keep the ball in play, but tennis lost, of course.

Must suck to have such a limited horizon. Stay pressed.

Well, casual tennis fans will always cheer for the opponent that is getting demolished, out of pity, that's pretty normal to me. But yeah, that's frustrating at times.

As for the Lucic fan's reaction, well he's a Lucic fan aka the epitome of ball bashing. You can't expect him to enjoy Monica's more subtle game.
