Karo beat Cagla Buyukakcay 6-4 3-6 6-0 in R1. Cagla played really well in the first 2 sets, you could see she was using the crowd's support well. Fortunately, Karo managed to regroup after giving the 2nd set away and finished the match with a bagel.
Doubles R1: (2)Pliskova/Pliskova d. Buyukakcay/Ozgen 6-2 3-6 10-5.
They were totally cruising till 6-2 2-0* where they wasted several BPs (there was absolutely no match), then they basically started fucking up and lost 5 games in a row, and the 2nd set with it.
In STB, it was really tight in the 1st half of it, then in the 2nd half they found their form again and won nearly all the last points convincingly.
She wasted a *3-2 lead in set 2 but whatever, Peer returned well in that game, and above all Karo was the more solid of the 2 in the end. Won 3 games in a row from *4-5 to win the match (a love hold, a break to 15 and a hold to 15 with a winner serve right in the corner on last point ). True that Peer also helped her with her 13 DFs, among things.
Also, always cute to witness Kris out there in the stands to support her. It's so nice they're so supportive to each other.
