really embarrassing loss
a bit worried, such a loss often affects long
but it also seems strategic tank, no way Karo would gain points from this tournament considering the draw (3R vs Safarova, QF vs Serena was expected)
I have a feeling she was still feeling the effects of the Stanford final. Either way, a couple of days off aren't the worst thing in the world for her, especially considering her line of tournaments she has up to the US Open.
Karo is still alive in doubles with Mladenovic
1R: d. (5) Dellacqua/Shvedova 6-7(5) 6-4 [15-13]
2R: d. Krajicek/Strycova 6-4 3-6 [10-8]
QF: d. Fichman/Zhao 6-2 6-2
(10)Kristyna Pliskova v Maryna Zanevska
Katerina Vankova v Nigina Abduraimova
Yi-Fan Xu v Kateryna Kozlova
Katarzyna Piter v (20)Lin Zhu
The headcase twin had a better Wimbledon than her sister, but then has gone back to three-set losses that plagued her the second half of 2014. Can she pull it together here?
She should have some confidence playing Zanevska, who she defeated 0 & 1 in 2013.
Kris was a DA last year, and lost to Dulgheru in straights.
Karolina was a mess for most of the match. Somehow she scraped through the second set (from 2-4 and 5-6* down) and found her serve and game in the third set. :yeah:
And obviously Kris just lost her Q1 match against Zanevska, 5-7 6-7(5) She was up a break twice in the 1st set and up a minibreak twice in the 2nd set TB
Damn she's still out of the top 100 i can't believe it. She doesn't play as much as Karolina, maybe all she needs is matches. She should vulture some challengers and get at least to top 80. As for Karo i'm glad she won a three-setter, she needed that urgently, she can totally win New Haven if she keeps her level high.
She was looking so lifeless out there today, barely moving, not reacting either to her great shots or bad misses nor to what her coach was telling her, it's a bit worrying... I wonder if it was more physical or mental It was such a contrast with Lesia who was very mobile and all.
It's not a bad thing that Karo has more days to recover before the USO if she's feeling worn out actually...
I wonder if it was on purpose. She says that she doesn't like to practice and prefers to play matches, but i doubt she wanted to get to the final and then go to New York. I have no idea, i hope she gives her all in NY and makes the Serena vs Pliskova QF happen.
