What no thread for the 16 year old Karolina Pliskova?

Karolina got a WC for Prague and has made the QF

R1 def Molik 6-4 6-4
R2 def Kanepi (8) 1-6 6-3 7-5

Edie: Thread for both Karolina & Krystina:D

Karo

All of this to say, I'm fucking frustrated. :fiery: (But I'll get over it, I guess. ;)).
I hear you! But the good news is the Karo did defend her position after a tricky first round, and will remain in the Top 50-- probably even scoring a new career high around #46 or #47. She also has nothing really to defend until after the USO. Hopefully, she keeps the rankings climb going, and doesn't meet a top player right off the bat at the USO (she met Bouchard in the first round last year!).

WTA Bad Gastein

Q vs Larsson
Q vs Tomljanovic
Barthel vs (8)Ka.Pliskova

*

(7)Giorgi vs Hlavackova
Neuwirth vs Moser
Kr.Pliskova vs Q
Q vs (3)Suarez Navarro

Two tough sections! especially Karo's one. :sobbing: Hate that she has to play Mona (who I love as well) in R1.

GL to both! :cheer: Karo is 1st on tomorrow, and her match will be streamed (according to DrakulaStream listing it). :yippee:

Won 4 & 4.

Overall a good performance. Good serving (not many aces, but good 1st serve % and placement), especially on important points, while Mona was served quite badly. Good returning, too. Congrats Karo. :yeah:

Golden opportunity for Karo to make it to the QF. Tomljanovic was looming in R2 :)scared:), but she just retired at 3-6 0-3 down in R1 against (Q)Ana Bogdan. :sobbing:

So R2 vs. (Q)Ana Bogdan it is, for Karo. :cheer: Don't you dare lose this one. :(

She won 6-2 7-5. :)

That was not a satisfying performance at all though. (Karo didn't look satisfied either, which is rather reassuring.) Really poor serving (very low 1st serve %, punished way too often on 2nd serves), made a a gazillion of really unnecessary UEs... :help:

Served for the match at *5-3, but got caught back to 5-5. At 5-5 all she managed to refocus and to win the next 2 games quite easily though. :)

QF vs. Grace Min. She'll have to seriously step it up if she wants to reach the semis.

Kris lost 7-6(8) 5-7 4-6. :(

Another superfrustrating close loss like so many before. She was up *2-1 in final set, but obviously was broken right after. Then stayed strong till *4-5 (saving several BPs), before folding at the most important moment. (obviously) :sobbing: Just like in set 2.

She's had so many of these, it's just not funny anymore. Beating Rogers would have been a great win as she's in good form these days.

I think she plays too much lately. She should be able to take some rest and pick less tournaments to keep her ranking. This is going nowhere.

Kris has been playing every week just to keep close to her sister in the rankings. It's actually worked, as she's Top 100, and playing the tournaments she should be playing now-- WTA level. She'll probably keep playing for the next two weeks to trying to make the USO main draw, then she can take a break.
