This is the 1st step, Cami is in the main draw of AOpen 2015:

DcsabaS : maybe we can talk in general of her australian summer in this thread ?

Anyway. The 2014 has been a good year, but she badly flopped in all slams...with a couple of good runs in a slam she may have ended the year in the 30 and maybe even a bit lower in the ranking.

She must start doing well in slam, they give too many points to always early loose.

She has already been training since 3 weeks and I know for sure their gol is to play the AO seeded. Cami and Sergio are counting much on it. Also considering Azarenka has to defend a final + Bencic not playing the 1st week a couple of wins in Brisbane thould be enough to secure the seeding...

If Cami will play in good form, she can/should reach the best 16, and even the best 8 is not impossible
Its really hard to tell...it always depends on the draw. If she gets a kind draw IMHO it should be high time for her to reach a slam QF...she can do it.

Bold part: certainly!

I think Cami's consistency a lot improved throughout 2014. Combined this with a possible seeding, gives a way better chance than ever before. It very much depends on how well she can prepare herself for the AOpen.

I hope Cami will play Caro Woz in third round.. xD She plays a class better vs stronger players. And I really like her game, too aggressive.

#6 ·
she may even need 1 victory with a bit of luck...

We should keep thinking match by match, with Cami you never know!
If she isn't seeded at the AO, her draw will be very important...but we've seen that she can flop in every moment like against Rodionova at the US Open. :fiery:
IMO the most important thing will be Cami's mind: I hope she won't feel pressured like in many occasions last season, in this case I'm sure she'll be able to achieve great results in 2015! :bounce:

you are rite...we may talk for days about her being seeded, she may even get it and after loosing to a qualifier  and at the same time not being seeded she may draw someone like Wozniacki and win the match...

We just have to hope she is working fine and improving during this off season

Well, Cami is getting more and more consistent (longer and longer winning streams of: games, sets, and matches), so, I think it is high time to look further, and not only 1 match at a time. (Provided, she is going to be well prepared for the next season - that I'm sure of. If she's not, that would be an unforgivable mistake! Even Cami is not that young anymore that could afford more slow-starting seasons!) (Provided she really want to break into the top. Are you doubting?)
Yes, she started winning several streaks of matches, but I think she still have to prove to be a completely solid and consistent player, meaning = not loosing anymore to players like Rodionova/Dabrowski/Rogers. She cannot afford to loose against those weak tennis players.

I know they are working a lot and really hard during this offseason. They are working a lot on her serve to make it more powerfull ( even though i would have worked to make it more accurate and with a better placement ) and they are working a lot on her return on serve to make it "deadly" ( it is the word they used.

Also in the last 2 weeks Cami spent her morning in a gym boxing ( she loves this sport. Dunno which the reason is behind boxing, maybe physical training, but I dunno.

Since they are working a lot, I just hope they know what they are doing.

Thanks for the details :worship:!

- blue part: I think this is a process. For a while she'll randomly lose to obviously weaker players. (Sometimes this happens even to Aga Radwanska or Halep, who are considered as consistent players.) Personally I would be completely satisfied if Cami could cut in half these occasions!

- green part: This is really good news! Hard working is productive, sooner or later (especially if somebody is as talented as Cami!) :).

- red part: Personally I'm most amazed by her lethal ("deadly") backhand cross returns landing near the net. I even don't really know how she hits them, because it seems physically impossible with her height (1.68m). Sharapova is famous of her backhand balls too, but she's much taller (1.88m), and still Cami hits this returns more frequently !

I would also be very happy to see more lethal volleys from Cami, because she could be the absolute No.1 on tour in this regard! She has the strength, the speed (thinking and running), the accuracy and the explosive temper for this!

- violet part: Boxing can transform our thinking to
- PATIENTLY WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME, and
- HIT WITH FULL POWER AND ACCURACY when it arrived.

More tennis players should do it (weight lifting is nothing this beneficial).

You keep use to tell outside things that should be kept inside the team or whatever you like to call it. Once you were almost flamed on her website for telling everyone something Sergio told you in private, keep telling what they're working on isn't fair, I guess. They have a website, people who update it: if they want to tell something to the crowd, like Cami did with the video, they have their way.
Again ? Things Sergio Giorgi whould have told me in private ? I thought I made it well clear months ago, but it must be obvious I dont express very very in Italian. I dont personally know Camila nor Sergio and sadly no kind of "secrets" have ever been told to me. Again talking bullshit saying Sergio would have made me a confidence during Wimbledon...it was such a secret thing that it was a comment he made in front of 100 people who were watching the match and everyone could hear him. Or now you want to know how things went in London even if you werent there ??

Now again you keep buzzing me because I said they are working on her serve and on her return on serve ? Things Camila herself said in her video the last week.

I do not like how you want to be seen like an insider. Ok, you know them and they tell you things, that's fine, but stop this please...
I want to be seen like an insider ? RTOFLMAO. Be sure, if I would like to be seen as an insider I could tell many more things not related to Camila's tennis.

I kindly ask you to stop telling me what i should or should not write, you are annoying.

Piss off.

Who stole your candy? Calm down! And don't act like you don't know. You write about boxing, remember, and now you say you only tell about serve and return on serve. You coult tell many more thing not related to Camila's tennis BUT you don't know them personally? So follow her on facebook/instagram is enough to tell more? Please.

I think nowadays there are no "big secrets" of the success that can be hidden for a long time in front of the eyes of the competitors.

Take the example of Simona Halep. Has she done one of the most impressive rises in the last (less than) 2 years? Certainly. And what are her big secrets?
- Breast reduction surgery? Was this a secret? No. The media used to be munching on this a lot, but it was not a secret. (Of course, Simona is NOT happy at speaking of it all the time.)
- Hard working in the off season? Was this a secret? Hardly. Anybody can do it, if devoted enough to be successful.
- Healing from injury? Well, if you're a pro, even an injury is not that surprising. You have to deal with it. Sometimes you have to continue, sometimes you have to stop (for a while). You have to find the proper doctors and treatments and the faith in you that you can overcome it (like Sharapova or Lucic-Baroni). Is this a big secret? I don't think so.
- Family, coaches, friends, fans, Country, etc.? Simona said many times the family is very important to her. (Is this so surprising? I think its normal!) Simona is lately changing her coaches. Many player does it. But even her fans are discussing on if she gained anything really important. Her big results are mostly based on herself. Friends, fans, Country, etc.? All these are encouraging, but in the end your still alone on the court vs. your opponent.
- Home page, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube Channel, etc? Well, being a fan I would be VERY happy to get as many news on my favourites as possible, but for example Simona's Twitter channel has only a single (1) tweet: http://twitter.com/simona_halep , and some months ago she didn't even know what a selfie is . No problemo :wavey:! (Actually, when it turned out, she got some more fans from over the world...)
- Forums (like this)? Personally, I think this can be useful or harmful to the player. Unfortunately, there are way too many bullshit and hate speech everywhere, so I think the best is, if somebody other (a team member?), not the player herself is in contact with this world. The complete ISOLATION is not a good goal, it cannot be attained.

OMG i wrote about Camila boxing ! What a secret I revealed. Not. If you type on google " Camila Giorgi Boxe" you will get pages and pages where it is written she normally boxes. Even her web site says it :

http://www.camilagiorgi.it/index.ph...uropa-confermati-i-tornei-di-maggio-e-giugno/

Dopo qualche giorno di allenamento a Miami, tra campi da tennis e palestra (dove ha anche tirato anche di boxe), Camila tornerà in Europa nella giornata di venerdì
It is something she always does and everyone knows about it.

Once again, no secrets.

Camila does not train in a private facility. She trains at the CONI facilities, where everyone can easily have access to it even if they dont know who Camila Giorgi is. There is no need to know them personally to see her boxing if she suddendly shows up in the gym where you normally train.

Anyway I use my nick everywhere, I dont hide beyond a pc. You come here using another nick, you start mocking me, telling me how I should behave, but you dont have the guts to write here using the nick you use somewhere else.

I dont like talking to ghosts, so I am done with this discussion.

My hopes are that Camila somehow in this off season will catch more wisdom in play and a little bit of consistency and 2015 will sure look much better than 2014.

#24 ·
No detailes have been given, but mouth surgeries are never easy things, no wonder she will take all the time she needs to come back. I hope she is already ok and come back stronger.

I am also a bit worried, she stopped her preparation to have this surugery and she will miss a tournament. She will make her debout in Hobart and you never know when you play your first amtch of the season + she will surely wont be seeded in Melbourne at this point so with an unlucky draw she may face a tough opponent in the 1R.

I personally have 0 expectation form January, hope to be proven wrong.

Any news on Camila surgery? I really hope is all going well and we'll see her in Hobart as scheduled.
She is already fine. She has been training since days ( she trained he 25th and the 26th.

Happy birthday Cami ! turning 23 !

Cami is ranked 33 this week, such a shame that she couldn't play Brisbane...there would have been a great chance to be seeded at the AO. :(
Anyway, I think that both Lepchenko and Stephens will pass her next week...so she'll be 35.

News: She posted a photo on Instagram about an hour ago with the hashtag #chau #(picture of a plane), so she's leaving for Hobart. Good luck Cami! :cheer:

She can do really well. It is a good draw IMHO.

Forza.

easiest R1 possible but Kaia in R2 could be really tricky but on paper she's not the type of player that Camila struggles against. it's 1st tournament of the year so we shouldn't expect too much, a R1 win would be already decent....and hopefully it will not be a hot mess like last year :tape:

The draw is great. I mean first round is more than doable also at 50% of form. And from then on, I expect (or better hope) a build of confidence.
Let’s face it: with her skills and keeping in mind the progresses shown last year, this is a tournament that Camila could and should even win! Maybe the fact that is first tournament of the year and that we are not sure how well she could train recently due to little surgery she underwent, we might doubt a bit. But let’s be honest: a better first round could not be chosen. And same goes for her quarter!
