Arantxa Sánchez Vicario será la directora del Abierto de Madrid, torneo del circuito WTA que se disputará en el Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, del 20 al 24 mayo. Así lo ha confirmado la organización, en una nota en la que señala que la ex jugadora asumirá el cargo el día de la presentación del torneo. Arantxa sustituirá en el puesto a David Serrahima, que pasará a ser director ejecutivo del torneo. La fase previa se disputará del 17 al 19 de mayo, y el cuadro principal se desarrollará del 20 al 24.
