PYW Doubles Shenzhen
Welcome to Shenzhen, China! As the first week of the year on the WTA circuit it always action-packed and exciting, the WTA decided to add a new event this year, so where better than the growing market of China? We have had the same four Australian Open warm-up events for the past six years, so the Shenzhen event will in a way be replacing the former Canberra International, which used to be held the week before the Australian Open and was won by Poland's Marta Domachowska and Italian Roberta Vinci (pictured) in its final edition. While neither of those two is in action in Shenzhen, some exciting Asian players are. The top seeds are a sister duo - Hao-Ching Chan and Yung-Jan Chan of the Chinese Taipei, while their compatriots - another sister duo - Shu-Ying Hsieh and Su-Wei Hsieh will also be a team to watch in the draw this week. Similar to the return of Zimbabwean Cara Black in Auckland, a former WTA doubles star is returning to action this week after a long time away from the game as Chinese Zi Yan partners Taiwanese Kai-Chen Chang, so they will surely be a threat to do some damage here. With such exciting teams in action, this week will surely be one not to miss. Vote now as the Shenzhen Longgang Gemdale Open commences!
