It's all about finding the right balance, and it's hard to get it exactly right because you don't know in advance how well you're gonna do.
Most of the top players are playing the same tournaments. You have to make a decision about Charleston/Stuttgart (Stosur played both & Fed Cup this year), or whether to play before a slam, like Brussels/New Haven.
Stosur played 23 tournaments and 2 Fed Cup ties this year. In GM, its called vulturing when a player does incredibly well in a lot of tournaments.
But players cant assume they'll be in around 10 finals when they make a schedule.
If you have a great year (like Azarenka or Sharapova) then you have to pull out of some premiers, to be ready for majors, madatories, YEC

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
