When did you decide to seriously focus on tennis?:
"When I was eight years old."
What other athlete or athletes do you admire?:
"Monica Seles because of her sportsmanlike qualities. She always uplifts her opponents even when she loses. I also admire Jenny Jordan (Former UCLA volleyball standout) because she is an unbelievable role model. For the less famous people who are just as famous in my eyes, I admire Tam Do, Chris Schaefer, and Pete & Tracy Stolpe. They are awesome athletes, hard workers and my best friends."
How do you prepare yourself before a match?:
"I just try and stay relaxed and confident in the work that I've done because I feel like I deserve to win."
What do you like better * singles or doubles?:
"I used to only like doubles, but now I'd have to say that I like them the same. I really enjoy doubles because of the excitement with the aggressiveness and action."
Why did you decide to attend UCLA?:
"First * the coaching staff. Second * the team. Third * location, location, location!
If you could be a world-class athlete in another sport, what would it be?:
"Probably volleyball or basketball. But I like soccer too."
What's your dream vacation?:
"About 4-5 weeks traveling throughout Europe then ending the trip in Tahiti for one week and Hawai`I for another week. Hanging out mainly at the beaches of course."
If you could have dinner with a famous person who would it be?:
"Billy Graham. I admire him very much."
What is the best lesson you have learned so far in college?:
"How precious life truly is."
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?:
"Ending a tennis career and possibly playing another sport. But ultimately, raising a family and keeping very busy with the rest of my dreams."
What is the best advice you have ever received?:
"That's tough because I've received so much good advice in my life. But probably, that you have to believe in yourself. If you do this, the possibilities are endless in sports as well as life."
Best movie you've seen lately?
Also, what's your favorite movie of all time?: "Lately, I'd have to say either the Sixth Sense or The Matrix. Of all time, I'd have to say Conspiracy Theory, I.Q., or Ever After. Probably Ever After because it's such a good story."
What do you like the most about tennis?:
"That's hard. I like the competition and the aggressiveness. But I also like traveling and meeting new people. I've been fortunate enough to see some incredible places and meet some incredible people."
What do you consider your most rewarding or memorable athletic experience?:
"My most memorable and rewarding experience is playing in the U.S. Open. Even though we lost both years in the first round, just participating in it was so inspiring. It had always been a dream of mine to play there. When I was actually there, I realized that my dream had come true."
