Some of you are making it sound like players losing in R1 don't try. They usually get outplayed, they are giving 100% and shouldn't be actively penalised and have prize drastically reduced for failing to take the win.

They have earned a spot in the draw in the first place by winning enough throughout the year to be ranked in or around the top 100 of what they do. That's quite impressive in itself. And slams are one of the few tournamentswith the cash to reward these people for their lifetime of hard work. The champion already becomes a millionaire in two weeks, how much more of disparity do we want?

Tennis is trying to become a more progressive sport, not even more fiscally elitist.

(2)You stans may as well sleep well tonight because tomorrow the a replay of Lucie's winning moment over and over again will haunt your dreams for weeks to come
(3)The stars have aligned perfectly for the upset of the 21st century. All the best Garbine
(4) There is no path to victory for Williams.Keys wins in straight easy sets.
