Hopefully the transition to a new coach will go smoothly

Re: Donna and Felgate are no longer working together

Before or after yesterday's debacle? Who pulled the trigger? I suppose the latter question is easier: Donna, surely. I hope Felgate doesn't feel betrayed after offering his services at a discount all these years. (I always had problems with that story, as it was always likely the partnership would dissolve without Donna having yet made serious money, for some value of serious.)

I'm also struggling to work out the relationship between Star Wing and JTC given the player overlap; have JTC lost all three juniors now?

I'd assume that this happened prior to yesterday's match. After such a long partnership that would be extremely sudden to have happened and leaked to the media within ~20 hours.

Re: Donna and Felgate are no longer working together

According to Croatian media she pulled the trigger.

I'd say this is logical after a year of her not making any real progress apart from some tweaks in the game (like mild improvement in her, formerly non-existant, net game). Hope it turns out to be the best option for both of them.

Given all this it's not reasonable to expect a result from her in Cincy and probably the rest of the USO Series as well. Must be a shock after so many years, but sometimes you just have to stop doing what's not working and move on in life.

Re: Donna and Felgate are no longer working together

I don't recall if this was shared:

Quote:
"What's been great for Donna is that already before her 18th birthday, she's had huge success, and she's also had some incredibly tough times, even though it was nothing that I didn't think could happen, and haven't experienced before in my tennis career. She had got ahead of herself. And she had a few draws that weren't easy, and also there was - this is more between Donna and I - some immaturity. Some panic set in at the start of the year. She had been off-track, but at the start of the year she was back on track. And she was doing all the right things, but she was thinking, 'When am I going to win a match?'"
This was from the spring, and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but this just shows that everything wasn't rosy all along (as with any coach-player relationship).

Wow Donna, hanging with Ivanovic and already copying her. I knew Ana would never be good influence.

Ivanović is back in top 10, and she is former no1/GS winner. Vekić can copying her only in wet dreams.

I said that because they are BFF's and Ana can't last a year with a same coach. That's actually her main problem. She would be top 5 with some consistency in coaching.

I think she really did got ahed of herslef. She had no respect for David. And that's just wrong. She ows him a lot. But I can see how he probably was angry with her as well.
I think she'll regret this

Everyone knows that, but JP can't pass a chance to shit on Donna.

What makes you say that? Birmingham "incident"? I thought it was clear from the footage that she wasn't disrespctful towards him there, just pissed at herself and the world for playing so poorly. I've honestly never seen or heard her be disrespectful towards him.

Having said that, I can imagine her getting ahead of herself given her age and the circumstance she found herself in, quite abruptly. Her personality does suggest she'll need more time to mature psychologically.

Re: Donna and Felgate are no longer working together

I'm just saying how I see it. I have no inside information.
She won only two matches after Kuala Lupmur. I think it's the same problem she had a year ago, and I think David was probably sick of her on court and probably off court behaviour.
Where will she train now?
Even more important for Donna, how will she hang with @charlifa now if she's no longer in London? Laura Robson's is so gonna steal her BFF

Re: Donna and Felgate are no longer working together

Don't think she'll necessarily stop working at the same facility in London, cause that had no direct relation to Felgate from what I know. Her working arrangement at that academy is not tied to Felgate alone, so she might continue working with one of their staff coaches there.

Re: Donna and Felgate are no longer working together

Her website states Davor Grgic now as her coach, he was her 2nd coach earlier and he's been working with her for years, I think even before David came into the picture. Let's see if that turns into a long-term solution or just a temporary transition.
