Only 17 and eating players she should be beating, and easily as well at that. QF will be tougher, but I'm excited! I didn't wake up to watch last night so hopefully I can wake up to watch the QF.

It's surprising how much cannibalism there is in tennis.

Same here, tildeloltilde. The time zone difference is brutal.

I hope to see her QF, SF, and final matches.

I didn't even notice! This stupid autocorrect. It changes beating to eating, then doesn't change beating when I type it a second time

It's been edited

Despite not making many winners, she's still an agressive baseliner, and she doesn't only win matches by waiting the opponent's mistake, though she can do that at times also.

I'm just hoping I don't jinx Donna when I can finally watch her

It happens with Jelena... I don't get to see any matches, and as soon as I can watch one, she loses! I'm concerned whether I should watch or not

Re: Donna Vekic - Volume 2

The draw is sure opening up nicely, think this could really be the one. Although she'll still have to be a bit more alert than today if she wants to go through to the semis. Someome said QF was the minimum they expected and would be content with - for me it's the semis cause she's the #2 seed after all

Re: Donna Vekic - Volume 2

As the #2 seed, isn't Donna expected to make the final (if seeding has predictive value)? No matter, she will win it all.

I know, I was just stating a minimum with which I'd be content personally. But yes, the #2 seed is expected to reach the final.

Re: Donna Vekic - Volume 2

I believe Donna's next opponent is the best player other than Donna left in the draw.

Good luck!

Well, I don't think there's anyone clearly above everyone else in this field - Svitolina, Voskoboeva, Cadantu, Peer, Scheepers...any one of them can surprise, and I'm especially afraid of Peer who seems to be on the rise again (plus she is super experienced - a head case, but a super experienced one).

Re: Donna Vekic - Volume 2

^^
Yeah I agree, nobody is clearly above everyone but this is just my personal opinion that she is slightly more dangerous than all the rest.

Re: Donna Vekic - Volume 2

The girl Donna beat today double bagelled her first round opponent. So there is really a massive lack of depth in this tournament. But I expect Donna to meet some seeds pretty soon and the difficulty level will jump massively. Likely to be Svitolina next.

Anna Chakvetadze
Agnieszka Radwanska Vera Zvonareva • Laura Robson • Donna Vekic Heather WatsonElina Svitolina Melanie Oudin • Andrea Petkovic

Svitolina bageled Burnett and now they're leveled at 2 in the second. Anyone watching (I just saw this on live scores)?

Re: Donna Vekic - Volume 2

^ Svitolina beat Burnett.

I'll feel much better about Donna's chances in this tournament if she wins her next match.
