Currently no.2 in junior ranking :yeah:
Birth Date: 27/09/1993
This year she won a GA title and was a RU at GA/G1/G1 tournaments.
She played her 1st WTA match in Ponte Vedra qualies last week and beat Poutchek 2:6 6:4 6:2 (from 2:6 1:4) and then lost to Mattek in a tough 3-setter. Before that she only played 2 ITFs (10k qualies in 2008 and 75k MD as a WC in 2009) and didn't win a match there.
She's now on entry lists for ITFs in Spain, hopefully she'll get a WTA ranking and will start to climb really fast:)
Good luck Monica! :yeah:

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

Has anyone noticed Pica's service motion? I find it so beautiful compared to other Top 20. I mean, look at Venus that -and other- day(s). The ball toss is all over the place. btw, why is this more common in woman tennis? Just my observations....

But I don't know what you guys think, but the way Pica hits the ball looks solid...what do you guys think?

Re: Puerto Rican hope Monica Puig

Monica starts tomorrow the European Clay season. She plays in Stuttgard Verena Schmid
a WCQ from Germany. Also, she has made it into the French Open MD with her current
ranking. Let's hope that she comes out of the French Open in the top 75 WR to make it easier for her to enter the MD in the Hard Court season tournaments in the US this summer.
Good luck Monica, go and make it happen Girl, you have the God given talent and determination to succeed...
