2005 - the positives

As her fan, what were you the happiest about with Lindsay's year?

It's not shyness I have. It's just that I'm not one of those people who loves to open a newspaper of magazine and see myself all the time. I don't like that at all. I prefer to play my tennis which I love, and with which I've been blessed.

For me, definately the win over an inform Kim on clay at RG. For Lindsay to turn a major weakness of hers (clay tennis) into an awesome win, which meant comming back from one set down and 3-1 down in 2nd.....was just an awesome match.

That was my play of the year.

Well done Lindsay for 2005.

I have to say the Wimbledon final and not just Lindsay's play. The loss must have hurt like all crap. But Lindsay reminded me of one of the reasons I've been a fan of hers for years. Her grace in defeat the way she carried herself was just fantasic. It easier to be a graceful winner than a graceful loser and it make even more special as the play was equally as good.

By the time Kim got to RG, her knee was 90% fine and fit, she said that in her press conference after the loss.

If you watched the match you would have seen the way Kim was sliding and doing splits all round the court...there is absolutley no way you could do that if you were injured or you knee was not fit, no matter what medication you were on! Besides she wouldn't jepodize her knee (especially on clay, knowing how much of a beating your body takes on clay), for one match!

It was ugly tennis from both players, but for me it was Lindsay's mental attitude, and never say never attitude taht I oved the most. at 3-1 down in the 2nd....she could have easily roled over and said "pah....im never gonna win on clay anyway"! But she didnt and she fought on....and at that point I though she had a free pass to the final...which was really unheard of in Lindsay's vocab!

But as it turns out...Maria was just starting her hot streak!

Linday can beat aby player on the tour with ability...I truely believe that....its her mental side that lets her down....and boy if she gets out of the wrong side of the bed before a big match....it can get ugly!

I enjoyed Filderstadt and the Wimbledon fourth round and semi-final victories... the lob against Mauresmo to secure the crucial break in the third was amazing.

Lindsay Davenport

Elena Bovina | Anastasia Myskina | Flavia Pennetta
Fernando Verdasco | Tommy Haas

Q. Give us an update on the kid.
A. Are you serious?
