2005 Yec

Lindsay will travel up I-5 to downtown Los Angeles to compete in the 2005 Year Ending Championships.

I hope she has successfully recovered from her bout of avian flu.

This title is a bit bland. I was expecting something sensational for the final event of 2005.

I'm not hoping for too much from Linds. It's basically indoor clay.

Women's tennis sucks.

Go Rafa.

We don't deserve exciting titles when we come down with avian flu.

I'm expecting SF, where we get killed by KIM!.

There's another thing that I don't like, that the #1 and #2 players in the world can play in the semifinals. GO LINDSAY!

LINDSAY DAVENPORT
Mary Pierce-----Monica Seles-----Martina Hingis

That's what I really can't stand about this RR format. There's almost no difference between the seeds, except that 1 and 2 can't play until the semis, which is stupid.

I expect a semi in this crappy field.

Lindsay Davenport

Elena Bovina | Anastasia Myskina | Flavia Pennetta
Fernando Verdasco | Tommy Haas

Q. Give us an update on the kid.
A. Are you serious?

There's no reason Lindsay shouldn't be in the final. And if she plays like she did in Filderstadt or even Zurich, she has a good chance at winning.

Well, if she plays Kim in the semis, I just don't see her winning that. This surface is really ridiculous - it plays like clay.

Madrid won't be much better next year, either. Their MS tournament's surface is also horrible.

Was the surface this slow in '99 when Linds won? If so, I was wondering how she would win it especially since she's fitter now.
I guess the advantage over clay is that her footing will be better/less slippery.

I was watching last years match against Serena and wow, the courts ARE sickingly slow.

I never really thought them to be that extremley slow.

Lindsay Davenport
Jelena Jankovic
Ana Ivanovic

Bam. Wham. Lindsay Davenport CHAMPION.

No. The MSG surface was a pretty normal indoor court.

That match was really funny, too. It was the battle of who cared the least, and in the third set Serena was pretty much just like "fuck it".

Lindsay needs to take the YEC seriously again. And get over the avian flu.

Why did they move the event from MSG? Wasn't it well established with good crowds?

I've never seen a match there.

Women's tennis sucks.

LOL I just looked up the article about how she thumped Hingis 6-4 6-2 in '99. Ick, why can't they play on a surface like that. You'd think such a big event in America would not be on a surface slow enough for dirt-ballers!
I wish I had started following tennis sooner, I haven't seen any of Lindsay's slam wins.
